incision site scars
hey everyone! I'm a newbie here and this is my first post. Im only 21, and my weight on the date of my RNY surgery was 242lbs on Nov 3/15. It is currently 213lbs on Dec 7/15. Wonder if that drastic drop is healthy... not complaining if its not though i am thrilled!
Main issue i want to know about are the scars-what can be done to help! My surgeon stapled me with titanium clips and 2 weeks after taking them off, 3/5 sites did not close properly :( they have healed now with secondary intention, but the scarring looks very bad. any advice?
You are doing great with the weight loss. It was more unhealthy with the extra weight than without it.
The scars will fade. By the end of the first year or so I couldn't even find mine.

I second what Grim says about the scars.
I am going into year 3. In year one my scars where dark red and RAISED! My nurse pracitioner mentioned that sometimes caucasian people just get raised scars.
Going into year 3 my scars have turned darker brown (like I have a tan.I imagine I could hide them with a tan..) and they are no longer raised.
I had back surgery about 6 years ago. Previously my back surgery scars looks and behaved exactly like my RNY scars. Now I have a light flesh colored line and you cant see it in the mirror when you turn around. Like the rny scars they were raise and bright reddish pink. Now, just 6 years later..it is normal flesh tone.

My scars were terrible at first!! I looked dented. Now I can hardly find them.

Looking at my stomach you can't tell where my incisions were. As a matter of fact I had Gallbladder surgery in Sept and bowel obstruction surgery a month ago and out of all the incision sites I only have 2 from the bowel obstruction that are visible and I'm pretty confident they will disappear.
