3 weeks post op and not losing any weight at all!
People who lose a lot right before surgery often don't lose a lot to start. I lost some my first week after surgery, then went on a 3 1/2 week stall. I know it is very frustrating. Focus on getting your fluids and protein in. Remember 64oz fluid and 60g protein are minimums....

It is looking like stalling right after surgery is common, I am so glad I found this site, it is a real peace of mind to know that I am not the only one. I am getting 60 grams minimum of protein and probably close to 80-90 oz. of fluid. I am a big drinker, I always have something to drink in my hands, I would drink a gallon of sugar-free fluids a day before my surgery, now I can only sip so I don't drink as much but I do drink quite a lot. I was drinking 80+ oz. of fluid a day when I was only 3 days post-op, so I push, push, push the fluids. Thanks for responding.
I have PCOS too! Let me tell you, the RNY WILL get you down to a normal weight. You will have to work for it though! With surgery or without you still have to work for it.
I went from 270-284 lbs to 139 lbs (lowest). I fluctutate between 139 lbs-144 lbs.
I eat high protein low carb. High nonstarch vegetable. I track everything on fitbit (food and exercise). I work out or do some form of exercise everyday but sunday (and sometimes sundays..normally I am busy home cooking on sunday for the upcoming week).
My secret was following the plan, staying away from sugar and starches, and exercising.

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
Hi Diva,
I have PCOS too and I have been skeptical whenever I have a stall. I would think "of course this won't work, curses on this pcos!" I lost 25 pounds in the first 3 weeks post surgery but I did not lose any before surgery. After that first 25 in 3 weeks, my body totally stalled I think I didn't lose for a a week or two and it was so SO FRUSTRATING! You think, "I have had a major surgery to rearrange my insides and no loss yet?" Something else I have read on these forums is that people who have a revision from one surgery to another in your case a lap band to bypass, usually have a slower loss. Like all the previous posters have mentioned, stay the course and the weight will start moving. You can also try staying off the scale everyday maybe just weigh in once or twice a week to not drive yourself so crazy. My journey has been rewarding and frustrating. You will continue to lose and have stalls, lose and have stalls, a couple of weeks ago I had no weight loss at my weekly weigh in and I was so devastated, then I lost 3 lbs over Thanksgiving and then another 5 lbs the next week, so there it was, stall followed by an 8 lbs loss which at 5 1/2 months out 8 lbs in two weeks is pretty good for me.
BTW, not sure what your doc said about pcos and weight loss surgery but there is no cure for pcos, weight loss surgery will just help the weight loss part of pcos. I even had to go back on metformin to help other symptoms of my pcos.
It will happen, be hopeful
Thank you for such an inspirational response and congrats on your success thus far. I am starting to calm down a bit as I see I am not in this boat alone but with plenty of other passengers. :-) PCOS is such a hot mess to deal with, the doctor said the surgery will help but eating low carb is the key to keeping all the symptoms under control. He said take biotin to help prevent hair loss and I was reading that biotin helps you grow hair and I immediately thought, "NO WAY!!" That is the last thing I want, to grow more hair, I will have a ZZ TOP beard in no time! LOL. No thanks! I have enough facial hair as it is, I will just take my chances.
My doctor told me to stop the metformin a week before my surgery and so far I have not needed it at all but I never stopped to think that it might help with my PCOS symptoms. I was taking it for borderline type II diabetes. I will look into it again. Do you take liquid? If not, how do you get those big pills down?
I lost 44 lbs right before surgery and then stalled for 7 weeks at 2 weeks post-op (12 lbs. lost). During that time I lost a BUNCH of inches though. I was convinced I would be the only 400 lb. size 10 in the world! I have found that I stall every 50 lbs or so. I have finally reached over 100 lbs lost and am stalled for the last 2 weeks. It gets very frustrating but just hang in there. It happens to all of us, some just sooner than others. The first couple of months are the most confusing and stressful. It does get better though!
Regarding Metformin, I want to say I didn't start back on metformin until I was about 3.5 months out. I started by cutting them in half to take them, then in a couple of weeks from that, I was able taking them whole no problem. They help me with a very specific pcos related challenge so while I was hopeful I would be off all medications post surgery, I still take a pill for my thyroid and I am back on metformin for now.
Im 3 weeks out and ive already cheated and been fine but i did liquids for 6 wks... im ready for some real food!!! Ive been sticking to sugar free but other than that small bites, chew alot. However, i too lost 65 lbs before surgery and 15 lbs since but nothing in the 3rd week!!! Im scared i did all this for 80 lbs only!!! What happened with you?
