Sleep Apnea
When I began on my BiPap in 2007, I worked extremely hard losing weight. I dropped a total of 53 lbs. a year later. Wonderful! I should have been estatic but I wasn't. My pre-BiPap symptoms had returned.
I called my sleep doc. He ordered another sleep test which indicated a need for my pressures to he increased 2 points both inhale and exhale. With the pressure changes I was back to feeling great.
My doc said it was very unusual for pressures needing to be increased with a large weight loss. He said usually the pressures need to be decreased.
67 yrs old, 4'10", BMI 31.8 (51.8 at start), HW 256.4 (8/4/15), SW 217.4, CW 152.8 (4/30/18), GW 125.0, RNY 12/4/15 Dr. RoseMarie Jones, Breast Cancer DX 2/16, Bi-lateral mastectomy 8/9/16.
Being diagnosed with severe sleep apnea was one of the reasons I decided to have WLS (my father died at 67 yrs old sleep apnea, heart failure was cause of death, he refused to wear his CPAP)
My sleep apnea was completely resolved within 3 months of WLS (retest) that was at 30-40 pounds lost so... it doesn't have to be dramatic to make a difference.
and YES... I dragged ass through the day... of course carrying around 100+ pounds doesn't help either.

Best wishes to your husband.
Ironically, my mom and I just discussed this over Thanksgiving...my stepdad was always one to snore and twitch in his sleep...he was finally diagnosed and got a CPAP and she says he hasn't taken a nap since he started on it! He feels a million times better. It sounds like the machine can really make a difference in one's life. I hope he wears it and gets great rest!
My energy improved with Cpap use but my attitude has always been superb, just don't ask my family confirmation on that. The sleep tech telling me I wore a SIZE SMALL mask was what I liked best about the whole Cpap experience. I also liked my sleep study night was shared with a well-known state senator having a sleep study performed at the same time; it gave me the chance to tell people I slept with a politician for real. If your DH has claustrophobia tendencies, he may wake up with the mask off like I did often. Yes, supporting him is wise so I wish both of you good luck with a machine that is either love or hate. I hated it.
