Long term planner
Oh Boy. I am going to be the voice of dissent on the board today! It really depends how active of camper you are. Do you hike/backpack things into the location or do you bring a camper? If it is the former (i.e. the backpacking), I wouldnt recommend it. I was so weak at 4 months post op that walking was all that could muster. I would almost pass out in yoga class.....
So if your camping is intense (Like miles of walkng, sleeping on the ground, and fighting off bears)...I wouldnt do it

Three pounds below Goal!!! Yay !
I would not have had the energy to camp at 4 months out, either. I did not feel human again until at least the 6 month mark.

I find this really interesting and it really goes to show the difference in perspective. Maybe now that you have gone so far you feel better in comparison, but me just being 4 months out I feel better than I have in the last 20 years.
This makes me happy, since it likely means I have so much more to look forward to.
I have a friend who climbed a mountain at 4 months post-op. Just make sure you have protein and water and I think you'll be fine so long as you are otherwise healthy!

Anything will be an improvement over this October's trip. While I enjoyed being away from work and the day to day grind, there was no activity other than walking from the camper to the chair or truck. Hope this is not TMI but I'm looking forward to being able to use our camper bathroom. It's pretty small and I have to leave the door open or I don't fit! Thanks again for all the replies. You all are a great source of information!

-I can relate to this too. Have fun SHUTTING the bathroom door! And have a great time!
Also, I wonder if you will be like me (i.e. you will need a vacation from your vacation (aka work!) to get you physically rested again. I find vacations mentally relaxing and stimulating (i.e. avoiding burnout from job) but I now throw activity fitness stuff in the mix. I figure, I sat so much for so long when I was MO, that I need to "catch up" by doing more/extra activities. This has been really wrecking my sleep as of late.

I went solo tent camping at 2 weeks. I went on a 3-4 mile hike, took me hours. I had an audio book and rested at every bench. I rode a bicycle 10 miles, slowly. I went wading in Lake Michigan one day for 2 miles out to the lighthouse, I had waterproof bandaids on my incisions. Whenever I got tired, I sat on the sand and rested. I rested for hours each day, took naps between activities. I ate poached eggs at a cafe and went to the grocery store for yogurt. I also had Taco Bell pintos and cheese and of course protein shakes. I bought unsweetened applesauce to take my meds (capsules). It was a very relaxing week and sure beat staying at home.

I'm almost 3 months out and still so weak I have to lay down after I make a cup of tea!! I have just started being able to eat and hold foods down but I still get quite nauseous after eating. Honestly I can't imagine that in another 3 or 4 weeks I'll feel good enough to go camping or go on ANY kind of vacation.
The lesson here is that there's really no way to know until after YOU'VE had your surgery and you see how YOU feel. You can definitely ask for advice, but everyone's journey is different, that's one thing I've learned along the way!! I never imagined I would be so weak and have so many issues after surgery - go figure.
So, I guess the thing to do would be to go ahead and make your plans but be flexible and accept that you just might not be up to it.
