What are your daily requirements?
Hello and good day to my OH family!! I haven't been given any requirements yet from my doctor, besides 64oz of fluid daily. I was wondering at around 9 weeks post-op, what were your requirements for protein, max carbs, and max sugars per day? I'm trying to figure this whole thing out and couldn't think of anyone better to ask then you guys....seeing my doctor doesn't think it's too important at this point?...weird or no?

My clinic said you should get at least 64 oz. of fluids a day, and that your daily protein goal should be your weight times 0.3. My protein intake has increased as I've lost weight though, so I more than double that requirement now. The only suggest re: carbs was to limit sugar to < 15g per meal.

I got a packet with charts and menu ideas, as well as several planning sessions with my NUT pre-op included with the surgery.
64oz minimum clear fluids (protein shakes count, too)
60g minimum protein (closer to 80g when you can increase)
Less than 25g net carbs/day, meaning total carbs minus dietary fiber.
I'm about 6 months post-op and have been sticking to that religiously. Some days I go over my carbs by a bit, but never over 35. It's hard to stay under 25 if you incorporate dairy, and I like to have greek yogurt for breakfast.

Great question. I have been wondering the same thing. I was only told to drink 64oz fluids and at least 60g protein (ideally 80-90). I have been eating so little it was difficult to track on mfp but I have increased my intake now so am trying to track to see how much of everything I'm getting in. I was just focusing on protein but now I want to know fat, carb and sugars.
1st referral-June 2014, sent back and resubmitted September 2014. Wrong referral-medical not surgical. December 22-Surgical Referral sent in.

I read an study on the Internet that said that RNY patients who kept their carb intake to less than 100g a day had better success long term. I'll try to find it again. The Article
I also had a minimum of 60 g protein, but I've always done 80-100 g since about a week after surgery. And now I have to get that much because my protein levels are on the low side. My surgeon's plan is moderately low carb, not ultra-low carb. They didn't give me a specific number, but I"m always below 100 - and usually between 30 - 80.
Are you attending the monthly support group meetings? They provide continuing education. I clicked on your surgeon and his website indicates that he is more than a 'cutter" - great surgeon, but little after care. He seems to offer a lot of support - are you taking advantage of it? It says he even has a fitness studio and trainer with experience with WLS patients.
It's often the NUIT and PA that offer the day by day advice. My surgeon did not tell me - it was the PAs that went through these handouts. I am a smart cookie and they had to go over it twice pre-op before I began figure it out.
