Pain and Tightness After Eating

I saw my doctor this morning.  Every time I eat something I have chest pain about an hour later.  He prescribed a muscle relaxer to take 30 minutes before I eat a meal or snack.  I will see if this takes care of the problem.

Have they ruled out an internal hernia?

To find mine, I had 2 CTscans, and MRI and endoscope and ultrasounds.  Nothing conclusive showed up on any of those tests.  I originally thought my pain was due to ulcers (had those before and pain was similar).  In the end, I had exploratory surgery as my surgeon was fairly certain that I had an internal hernia using my symtoms as a guide.  It wasn't in the Petersens space like we'd assumed, but it was teeny tiny and a nerve was stuck meaning every big breath I took hurt and everytime my pouch filled up it would hurt.

I am surprised at your treatment (never heard of using muscle relaxers for that, but hey sounds good!) and I certainly hope it isn't an internal hernia or anything surgical.  Keep us posted, I'll be thinking of you.

He want to try the muscle relaxer for a week and see it that solves it.  I am also going to be taking Zantac after meals.  I will see what happens.

I've never heard of that as a fix before, but what do I know. Crossing my fingers that it helps.

I ate about a half hour ago and will know in about one hour whether of not the pills worked.  If no attack of pain, it will be the first meal in over a week that I did not suffer with.

I know rnyers aren't supposed to have reflux, but before I found out how bad my reflux was, I would often have chest pain all the way up into my jaw and ears, though my heart was found on testing to be healthy. It was reflux for me. Taking my reflux regimen would fix the chest pain quickly.

Whatever this is, it is painful when the attacks happen.  I took my first muscle relaxer at 5 and ate dinner at 6.  By 7:30 I should know whether it helped.
