Eating two cups of chili is a bad idea. Measure your food and eat your allotted portion. Take it slowly. You cannot go by how your stomach feels.

I fight badgers with spoons.

Nakitah,

Please take the advise of many others who have had this surgery.  ALWAYS weigh ur food, track your calories and eat the appropriate foods and this surgery will be a success for you.  Pushing the boundaries is what most likely made many of us over weight to begin with.  Stay positive and continue to educate yourself on how this procedure changes your body.  I am almost 4 months post op and I have lost 105lbs but not without hard work and dedication and ignoring the temptation that many of us still face.  You will feel great when you see your dedication is paying off.

It's so weird that you posted this because I was about to post a similar question. I never feel full AND I get hunger pains. I did post something about hunger pains a few days ago and got some great responses. I have lost 14lbs now in under 2 weeks so I feel like I must be doing something right. I still fight the feeling of being hungry but I'm sure in time it will get better. I have managed to stay right around 7-800 calories a day which seems reasonable enough. There is an app called baritastic and I track all my food and then can go into the summary and see exactly how many proteins, calories, sugar etc that I have had. It might help you to do something like that.

There is always a chance that surgery didn't work, but it usually takes a while to find out for sure. Did you buy the extended warranty?

I would like to thank everyone who took the time to answer my question.  It's helpful to hear other peoples' experiences.

For those of you who decided to preach portion controlm, I have specific WRITTEN instructions to eat until I feel full.  NO WHERE does it limit me to 1/2 cup or 1 cup or any other amount.

Not sure why you would take the time to answer a question I didn't even ask but I'm not interested in being judged by strangers and given rules by someone who isn't my doctor.

If your directions tell you to eat until you are full -- then you have gotten the WORST post op instruction in the history of these boards.  Seems that a lot of people who have actually lost hundreds of pounds are telling you that doesn't work and is a bad idea.

So you'd rather believe your surgery didn't work than A WHOLE GROUP OF SUCCESSFUL POST OPS telling you that eating "until you are full" is a recipe for disaster.  Just wondering -- wasn't eating until you are full what helped to get us all obese?  I am two years out and would NEVER eat 2 cups of chili.  At most, I have 1/2 a cup.  BTW, an average cup of chili has 287 calories and 22 g carbs.  That means in eating 2 cups, you ate 3/4 of my calories for a WHOLE DAY even now -- two years out!  Wow.

Seems from your post and responses that you want to eat two cups of chili and aren't really interested in learning how others have found success.  Enjoy that.  Eat 3 cups of it -- eat until your full.

The rest of us will relish not being obese.

Crap..I got the wrong doctor. Mine said..hey you won't feel fullness because I CUT your nerves. Also you have a big ole incision in there and I don't want to redo it because you burst it open trying to get full.

Mine still recommends weighing food. And being full....like pre-op full...that's a thing of the past.
