Absolutely no restriction...I dont' thinksurgery worked

First let me say thank you for actually answering my question and telling me about your experience.  That's all I was looking for.  People are making a bunch of assumptions and giving advise I didn't ask for.

I'm sorry but I wouldn't come online seeking medical advise from strangers.  I would simply contact my doctor.  He has several nurses available that I can call, email or visit.

Some peopel are assuming that I am constantly eating 2 cups of food at each meal which isn't the case.  My instructions were to eat until I am full.  It happened once and  I stopped when I reached the 2 cup mark.  I planned on contacting my doctors office on Monday because I still didn't feel full after 2 cups and wanted to know if he would have different instructions for me.

People read what they want to read and are off and running answering questions that weren't asked.  There's a difference between sharing your own experience and telling people what to do.  To say "My instructions were to only eat half a cup of pureed food at 3 weeks out" is a big difference from "You shouldn't be eating any more than half a cup of food!"

One thing that stinks with posting is you can not hear the person's voice. You have a voice that you think maybe sounding mean but it is more out of concern.

My food plan was a joke. It had carbs galore on it. If I followed that plan I wouldn't have lost weight.

Having this surgery can make us very emotional. I know I was.

Take it as advice not someone being mean.

It would be good to contact your doctor.

My specific written instructions are to eat until I am full.  No where does it tell me 1/2 cup, 1 cup or any kind of limitation.  But thank you for answering a question I didn't ask.

How's the view on top of your high horse?

If your written iistructions told you to eat until full, then those are the most asinine instructions ever written. I would bet my house that you will fail and be utterly miserable following those instructions.

You can choose to follow that plan if you want to. But you came here looking for advice because you already can see THAT IT IS NOT WORKING! You can continue on the same path, or take the unanimous advice from those that have been there and done that.

Best of luck.

In your original post, you say that 1/2 cup does nothing for you. Where did you come up with 1/2 cup for a portion size if your doctor/ nut never gave you those numbers?

Edited for dumb spelling on my part.

That's a pretty snappy response. People are trying to help you. Yes go to your Dr for medical advise, but if the advise you were given was to eat till you feel full, then he is doing a disservice to you & people are pointing that fact out. Why?, because they want you to succeed. Closing yourself to advice is a good way to not get any help at all & there is a whole lot of experience from people on all type of plans & backgrounds on these boards.

Your Dr might be assuming that you're feeling restriction now & he should know at the stage you're at, you're not going to feel that type of restriction, yet, which calls into question any other advice he might have given you. I.E not measuring what you're eating or giving you better guidelines other than eat till you feel full.

I know in the vsg forum there is a saying to under eat your sleeve, which is what I do, not eat till I feel full, because it can be a most unpleasant feeling to eat to that stage. Also remember you don't have to defend yourself after every response. Take what you can & leave the rest. Come back & see things from a different point of view, & by all means get a 2nd medical opinion. People aren't talkin out their ass for the most part here.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel

If by "wow" you mean "wow, thanks for that wonderful advice Laura", that's fine.

If by "wow" you felt scolded, you should feel that way.  Unless your surgeon and staff are useless twits (which admittedly it sounds like yours are), you were given rules to follow.  Follow them.  And if they are bad rules, ask us for advice.  And if you don't like our advice, stop asking.

If you can't follow the rules, you need to figure out why... thus the therapist recommendation.  We love you and we want you to succeed like we did... and we are not going to *****foot around it.

Her question is not about lifestyle changes. She didn't say she couldn't do lifestyle changes or that she is off on a binge and overeating. She is simply asking if anyone else has had no restriction. The answer is yes. I have no restriction at almost 3 months out. That's why my doctor made an appointment to see what the cause is. I am having a scope done.

Consider the question people ask and stop assuming they are not following the doctor's plan. She was simply testing her pouch just like I did only because she and I felt nothing and I knew I should have. It had nothing to do with not following the doctors plan or changing the lifestyle or possible seeing a therapist. That's why at this point I called the doctor and I advised her to call her doctor if she continues to have this problem.

I remember saying those exact words to the surgeon at about 2 weeks out. "I feel like I could eat anything" It doesn't mean I did eat anything. My doc has you on solids after a month. I did plateau for 3 1/2 weeks starting  after week 1. I kept going back to the Doc and nutritionist complaining about why did I have my insides rearranged not to lose weight. I remember the Doc plainly saying, "I'm not worried, you will lose weight". I can say now you have to think long-term... by my one year surgiversary I was down 165#... the 3 1/2 week stall is only a memory.

Thank you!!  I appreciate you actually answering my question and telling me your experience.  And like you I am not eating anything.  Being able to reach 2 cups of pureed chili was a red flag to me and I will be contacting my doctor on Monday.  I was just looking for people who may have experinced the same thing.

Again, thank you for taking the time to answer the question that was asked.

I understand you. You may not even see this, but my response was the same as yours. You were asking a yes or no question to get information on what other people did, not get comments suggesting you are overeating and not following the doctors instructions. I hope you found your answer. It's 2020 and I see my doctor next week. I was also told I would get restriction after I healed, but nope. NONE!

Did you find out what was wrong?
