Absolutely no restriction...I dont' thinksurgery worked
Thank you for update. I'm 3 weeks post op and having the same issue. No restriction! I can eat 20oz protein smoothie no problem, soup etc no restriction. You put my mind at ease. Thank you
I also had a revision from sleeve to bypass glide to reflux. Did you ever feel any restriction? I'm 6 weeks out and nothing.
Your pouch is like a funnel. Connected on a smaller end to a very long tube - your intestine.
If you drink liquids or eat slider foods (like chilli) they may stay in a pouch for a couple of minutes or less ..then they pass into the long tube.... That " tube" can acomodate and acomodate..... Kelp stiffing yourself beyond what doc told you and you may be that 1 in a hundred person who would come in 6 months And tell us that the surgery did not work for you....

I felt like 'I could eat anything' until I got to the final stage and solid foods. Huge difference. It took time to transition to solids, it wasn't as easy as I thought. My advice when you get there is: take your time, small bites, chew, chew, chew, and make sure it is moist- add a little broth or sauce if needed.

In my first 2 months I lost close to 50 pounds.
Most of us going into this knowing that this is our last hope to lose the weight and more importantly keep it off long-term. We follow our surgeons plan to a t. We do not overeat and risk blowing open our staple line because we know it could kill us. We do not eat 2 cups of chili when our surgeon says to limit our servings to 1/4-1/2 cup. We know we have to change our habits or this will never work. We know the surgery is not "magic". Eating tons of food because we felt hungry led to our obesity. We must live life differently now.
If making these lifestyle changes and following your surgeon's plan is impossible for you, please find a therapist to help you.

No, not wow. The time to let your stomach rule you is done. Now you need to take charge and rule your stomach. It will be a lot easier with surgery, but it's not a silver bullet out to slay the werewolf of obesity.
How many times presurgery did you say to yourself 'Screw it. I already blew my diet. Might as well eat this cake/garlic bread/ pizza'? Or maybe 'Eh, I'm fat anyway. Who cares?'
I told myself that **** all the time. YOU are the only one who can manage you weight. YOU have control. A lot of us acted like some external force was making us fat. Wrong. We did this to ourselves. Now we have get on with it. Dense protein in measured portions. Water. Vitamins. No starchy carbs. Most of all, we have to quit acting as if obesity is like a natural disaster that just happened to us through no fault of our own.

Trust me they are not on a high horse. They truly want to help you. They are not looking down at you.
The vets here are to help us. Others are to encourage us. My surgeons plan was pretty vague also. I was told to eat small portions. He even had bread on my list which was a major no no. Thank goodness I did found this website. I don't think I would have lost the weight that I have had. At my highest I was 322 pounds. Now I am still in the obese range but I am going to get down to my goal of 150.
I questioned my surgeon if he actually did the surgery since I felt normal. Then three weeks after surgery. I started feeling my pouch. I had to drink warm liquids and nothing cold since it would hurt. I had feeling. So you need to measure.
One thing I will tell you is when you tell people that you had the surgery there is always one or two people that will say and roll their eyes. And say Oh so and so had that surgery and gained all of the weight back. It is a horrible feeling when people say that.
It is good to ask questions. There is a lot of information. Surgeons pretty much just do the cutting and see you a few times after surgery.
Sometimes we may not like the answer to the question we asked. I will say when I started here I did delete my account. I reactivated it. I am glad I did.
Take care of yourself.
