What's On Your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Good Morning! Carb detox enters day 4; how are all the participants doing? Here's a random observation: since trying to keep my carbs low on purpose, my protein numbers are through the roof. Well, I guess that's relative, but they're way higher than usual for me. Bonus!
Still rainy gross mud here. I had to clean off my shoes with a Clorox wipe when I got to work. LOL
Random Question! Do you have any scars? Before you're all "duh, Kristen", I know we all have surgical scars. LOL I'm talking about scars from something else. I'll start. I have a 3 inch scar above my left eye, right underneath the eyebrow. When I was 6 I was running in a restaurant, tripped over a rug, and fell face first onto the dispensing tray of a cigarette vending machine. This was the mid-70s, mind you. I don't even think those things exist anymore! LMAO The scar is pretty faded now, but it's more sensitive than the other eyebrow when I pluck.
Time since surgery: 16 1/2 months
B: coffee, a cheese stick and Activia Light strawberry Greek yogurt. You guys, if you haven't tried the Activia Greek, I highly recommend. 80 cals, 12 protein, 7 sugar and it doesn't have that sharpness to it that some other brands have. Yummy!
S: Click Mocha
L: cranberry turkey salad, pork rinds and a Friendship Fit to Go 1% cottage cheese
D: More of the cranberry turkey salad (we are going out of town again this weekend so I need to fini****!) and a HB egg
TOTALS: cals: 883 protein: 128 (see?!) carbs: 36 Fat: 24
Have an awesome day!!
Good Morning! Rain stopped here-- now its just windy & cold. At least I finally have the chance to wear my $7 thrift store winter coat.
Scars: I have 3. Two from Chicken pox, one is in my left eyebrow, so part of the brow is missing in that spot, and he other is on the back of my left hand. Third scar is from my thyroidectomy, its about 2" long at the base of front of my neck. The scar *should* have been invisible but i tend to keloid so its not hard to miss. If people ask about it- depending on my mood I'll either tell them it was from surgery or a bar fight LOL
Time since surgery: 7 months
M1: 2 boiled eggs, cheese stick and fruit cup
M2 &3: 6oz Fairlife milk w/ Chocolate & peanut Butter protein powder mixed in (I'm having a little food apathy lately)
M4: I need to go to the market on lunch and grab something. NO poultry-- I'm sick of bird! Tonight will be a red meat night...meat loaf would be a good idea but will take too long by the time I get home.

Good morning all,
back home today. It's harder to avoid grazing when I am working at home. And again being here and being accountable is making this a whole new (old) ballgame. For example I thought I was watching my carbs but once I started MFP logging again I noticed how relatively high my days had become. Planning ahead has totally affected my choices for the better. I would have had a totally different lunch today if I had not been planning in MFP and coming here to post. Funny how that happens :-)
So, scars. I have a scar on my left facial cheek, from sledding headfirst into a chain link fence at 6 years old. And a V-shaped scar on my right knee from kneeling on a can opener (I was crawling around on the kitchen counter). Good times, those 60's!!!
Anyway - here is my plan for today.
Time since surgery: 8 1/2 months
B - Bariatric Advantage shake with 1% milk
S - Coffee with half and half and stevia
L - Tuna Melt: 1/4 c. tuna, 1T light mayo, 1 slice LF cheese, on lettuce
S - Laughing Cow Cheese wedge, baby carrots
D - Mexican Beef and Bean Bake (a la Eggface)
E - Burn 30 - 30 minute workout
W/V - started
Totals: 832 cals, 48 carb, 37 fat, 76 protein
Great work to all participating in the carb challenge! Let's keep it rolling everyone.

I have a 1/2" scar right next to my right eyebrow from being hit in the HEAD with a friggin push broom in middle school. Knocked me out cold!! I have my c-section scar from the 4 year old's birth. I have a 4" scar on my neck from a surgery. Let's see I have a big round(ish) scar on my shin from burning myself on my Dad's motorcycle muffler when I was about 11 years old (now THAT was a dumb thing to do!!) I have more, but not enough time to list them all! HAHA

I went for a great walk this morning, STILL being able to walk outside in December.....YES PLEASE, I'll take it!!
Morning AV. Well, my weather is cold and overcast, but no real rain today.
Scars, I have three that are significant, all from when I was a child. The first was from a dog bite on my right calf. My friends dog took a chunk out of it when we were playing in the back yard. I was probably around 12 years old. Then I have a large scar on my right knee. I was playing on a open bedded trailer when I was around 8 and slipped and hit my knee on a large bolt. It actually left a gaping hole in my knee and I had to go get stitches. The 3rd is from when I was jumping on the bed when i was about 6 or 7. I fell and hit my head on the headboard. It was right above my left eyebrow. that eyebrow is much thinner that the right side. but the most odd injury I had as a child did not leave a scar. When I was 12, I was at a friends house and we were in her swimming pool. We were taking a Nerf soccer ball and pushing it to the bottom of the pool to fill up with water, then letting it go. It would fly like 10 feet above the pool. Well, we were all trying to catch it as it came back down. I was the only one who succeeded, and it broke my hand.I broke my hand with a Nerf ball. I didn't know it was broken at first, and walked around all day thinking it was just sprained. Finally about 8 hours after it happened my hand was so swollen that my mom took me to the ER and it showed a clean break in one of the bones in my hand. I had to wear a cast for 6 weeks over the summertime. I won't lie, after about 3 weeks those plaster casts really deteriorate a lot and I used to slip my hand out of the cast to go swimming at my friends and them slip the cast back on so my mom didn't know.
I'm in a pickle. My husband has to go out of town toight for work, he's already on his way, and I totally forgot that I have therapy tonight at 5, so I have an hour between the time I'm supposed to pick up the baby and when I'll actually be able to pick up the baby. I think I'm going to have my oldest babysit. I don't do that often because he doesn't change diapers and I'm afraid that the baby will poop and sit in his diaper until I get home. alternately, the baby is at my inlaws, and my mother in law has to leave at 5:30. My father in law will be there, so I'm thinking maybe I'll just send my oldest over to be in charge of the baby at their house, with my father in law as the adult in the house in case of emergency or poopy diaper, lol. I guess I should ask them which they would like. Oh, the life of a working mom *sigh*
Anyway, I have impulse issues. My dinner last night changed. I logged it and my calories were at 818, but my carbs went up to 71. I'm telling you guys this because I'm struggling with food. I had chinese food last night. I had 2oz of egg drop soup, one bite of fried rice, one bite of an egg roll and about 4 oz of beef with snow peas. Also, I felt guilty enough to get up this morning at 5:30 and run on the treadmill. I think that my problem with this is not planning in advance. I had the intention of eating the shrimp and zucchini that I make, but when I went into the fridge to pull out the zucchini it had gone bad. I should have known it wouldn't be good since I bought it a couple of weeks ago. So I was unprepared for a healthy dinner, and I talked myself into Chinese by telling myself I wouldn't touch the rice or the eggroll and I was sharing the meal with my youngest. I'm seriously happy to be going to therapy tonight, because I need it. The struggle is real.
So, my plan for the day is weird. I don't have lots of my food to eat in the house, and because of the holiday I've done minimal shopping for my foods. I grabbed some stuff today, and this is what I've logged. I plan on making chili tonight, so it'll mean a late dinner, since I won't be home until 6:30. i wish I would have thought to throw the stuff in the crockpot this morning, uggghh.
Food:
B: 1/3 Start Right breakfast sandwich, small coffee with cream and I'm sipping on a Syntrax lemon tea
L: frozen turkey meatballs I made a few months ago and that have been sitting in my freezer. I brought some shredded cheese to help get them down, lol.
D: chili with shredded cheese
S: light and fit caramel apple pie and chicken jerky.
Totals:
Cal 826 protein 89 carbs 46 fat 32
This weekend I'm stocking up on my healthy foods. My weight loss hasn't stalled but it'll be just a matter of time if this keeps up.
Have you considered a carb detox? At my 6 month checkup my internist warned me that my body was going to revolt and crave carbs like crazy, boy was he right! I have also found that if I give in to the cravings, or just the convenience, the rest of my day goes bad.
Like, I couldnt eat a half of a breakfast sandwich and be successful the rest of the day. Once I get a taste for it I just cant get enough.
I need to. I just changed up my plan for the day anyway because the thought of eating the meatballs made me want to vomit, so I just had 1/2 cup of cottage cheese instead. That changed my numbers to 801 calories, 84 protein, 47 carbs and 30 fat.
I need to go to the grocery store, but tonight will be hard because my hubby is gone overnight for work. I'll make the chili tonight which is fine and then eat shrimp tomorrow for lunch, this will keep my totals low.
Carbs do really just make me want more and more. I'm done. Tomorrow is my 4 month surgiversary and I NEED to keep my head in the game. I still want to lose about 66lbs to get to my goal. If I go by my surgeons goal for me I only need to lose 38 more.
Looking at this really just made my day, lol. I know I've lost 85lbs to date, but I never really looked at how that played into my overall weight loss and what I need to lose to get to goal. I'm more than halfway there, and as everyone can see it's getting increasingly hard to maintain. Talk about a motivator!
