small amount of weight lost

I'm entering my 7th week since surgery and have only lost 11 lbs. I lost 42 lbs before surgery and am within 25 lbs of my goal weight. I'm off all diabetic and high blood pressure meds. I try to think about that success, but my weight loss is so disappointing. I have followed all the menu examples that I was given. Any suggestions?

Some people lose all of their excess weight in the first six months, others take a year or longer.  The less you have to lose the less you will lose weekly.

The Postop planner can give you a good estimate of what to expect each month.

It sounds like you had very little left to lose after surgery. Being within 25 lbs of goal, you're not going to lose nearly as fast as someone who has 200 lbs to lose. I lost 80 lbs pre-op but actually gained right after surgery and stayed at that higher weight for a few weeks before I started losing again.

I think your success is outstanding, you beat back diabetes and high blood pressure! I'm still wrapping my head around getting RNY when you need to lose 36 pounds.

You should log everything that enters your mouth. Liquids too.

Do you exercise? The last 25 pounds are the hardest to lose.

Best wishes and good luck.

I was a "lightweight" as well and the good thing is being a lightweight we are more likely to reach our goal.

Whenever I got discouraged, because let's face it, we all want to wake up from surgery thin, I would remind myself that even if I only lost 1 pound a week I would still reach my goal in less then 6 months (if I had 25 lbs left to lose).

Talk to your doctor also, s/he may have some words of wisdom to keep your progress in perspective.  You may been (and prob are) overly concerned about the scale.

I would suggest a goal of developing a healthy relationship with food and your body as a focus.  That keeps me on the right track, but not overly scale dependent. . I found that the scale was fickel as I got close to my goal weight., but the scale does move down.  Make sure that you are doing those other things - exercise, vits, fluid and maybe some new interests.

Congrats for getting off all those meds AND Keeping off your pre-op weight loss! (In the before WLS days, that would already becoming back on, for me)

You might want to visit the WLS Lightweight forum.  Alot of people there are dealing with maintanence or taking off the last 25 pounds also.
