Labwork

I am 3 and a half years out.  I was looking at recent lab work and my doctor isn't concerned about anything as it all falls in the normal range for normal people but I am wondering if some of the vitamin levels are low for after gastric bypass.  I am tired a lot recently.  I can't find a number for Vitamin D, Thimaine or Folate and I am going to ask him about those but I noticed B12 is 263, B6 is 24.2, Iron 94, Ferritin 64, and Albumin 4.3.

I know the thoughts on these vary from doctor to doctor too just looking for some input.

Although your B12 is in range, many of us feel better when we keep our levels around 1000. Ferritin is also low.

I'm with Laura. If those were my numbers, I'd be adding more B12 and more iron.

Maybe more important, what were your last few labs? If your B12 and ferritin have dropped some each time, they likely will continue dropping if you don't do something different.

Trends are really, really important.

There are studies that show that some people may develop permanent nerve damage with B12 below 500.. I feel my best with my B12 more than 800..

My B12 is around 2000. My Dr said I would pee out what is not needed but need to keep level high.

Hello: Not sure about the sale that is used for you. At 6 month my A-vitamin was low, and I supplemented only with cayenne pepper, YTD, it has been great with only adding the red pepper to savory foods... just to warm things up... no burn. At year 2 I was low, just out side the range with D3, and it took 3 months of 5000 iu 2-3x daily to get that normal... I really felt that one; fuzzing and as if my brains were hollowed out. My blood pressure was rising too for the lack of it... found out that as we age that's a hard one to maintain, be an older lady with olive complexion too. YTD all level are good and within the expected range; seen chart Kaiser provides on blood chemistry analysis history. I make sure I take all my Bariatric rated vitamins daily since being low and out of range or on the low side can be really scary, especially after reading about how some deficiencies can give you permanent damage. Best wishes for feeling better.
