Pre op first day of liquid diet
I am on the first day of my 2 week liquid diet. I have done perfect so far, but now comes the night. I am craving some sauteed asparagus. i know I could be craving worse, but if I do this (with garlic) is it affecting my shrinkage of liver?
it may. Or may not affect your liver.but it certainly is not helping you learn to stay on plan. That is going to be very important post op.
just because we crave something doesn't mean we have to give into the craving. Craving is not an emergency.
I'm with Hollykim on this. You have to stop sometime. Make your time now.

This diet is not just for shrinking your liver, it's to see if you can follow the program. Whether or not it will affect your liver shrinkage is not as important as you not being compliant. You have to stick to your diet, it's really that simple. Find other things to do until your craving passes.

Don't give into the craving! I am on day 18 of the 4 week pre op liquid diet. I was required to do 4 weeks. I haven't cheated once and won't. I find it best to not see pictures of food or think about food too long. Keep food network off your t.v. etc. It will help tons! Also.....do something different that will support your new life...like go for a walk when others in your house eat dinner. Make a choice every day to ONLY follow the Dr's plan. It will help you build your confidence to say NO in the future when you have cravings. Just cause you "want" it, doesn't mean your body needs it. You'll also be surprised that being on the liquid diet gets easier. Hang in there...it's a journey you want to be proud of!
I'm with everyone above. You can do this. Stay strong it's worth it!
