I'm 3weeks post op, down 35lbs. My doc said the fatigue could last 3 months ugh. I hope not. I feel like a have the flu hangover. I'm sick of feeling crappy. Am I expecting to much. I struggle to get my protein in but I get it in. I get a lump in my throat every time I need to eat or drink my protein.

You're going to feel tired for a while.  I don't know about three whole months, but it's definitely going to be some time.  Do your best with your protein--right now you should focus on building a steady routine.  Don't expect to get in your full amount of protein right away or feel bad if you don't--you'll work up to it gradually.  Do use this time to get in the habit of tracking your intake so you can set yourself up for long lasting success.  :D

It took me about 6 weeks before the fatigue started to wear off and I started to feel normal again. I know that oral B-12 drops would give me a little boost of energy when I needed one. :)

Your Dr is right!!  I just turned 4 months and although I was quite active....it didn't take much to wear me out for the first 3 months.  I found it especially tough mid afternoon.  It does get better.  The healing process it long but sooo worth it!!!

You will feel better. Trust me. It sucks. But life is so much better after my RNY.

I agree with what everyone else is posting. I took only one week off of work, worked from home the 2nd week, then back to work. I was exhausted. I barely made it through the day and then came home and took a nap. But it gets better.  I really started feeling much better at about 6-1/2 weeks. It takes quite a while to build up to getting in all of your protein, but you will get there. I started the day with a Premier Protein shake (still do), but just drink what I can and drink the rest later in the afternoon.  At first I couldn't drink much at a time, but gradually increases. That is 30 grams right there if you can finish by the end of the day.  The other thing that saved me was beef jerky. I would nibble on it throughout the day and it helped me with my energy levels and didn't bother my stomach at all.  Look for a brand that is low in sugar.  I like Jack Links and turkey jerky the best.

It's easy to be impatient, but you won't get faster results than what you will see after the RNY.  Good luck!

It gets gradually better. So gradual that one day you realize you feel pretty good. The first month or so is the roughest.

Hang in there - you are almost over the hard part.  The first 6 weeks are tough but it does get better and then you'll be racing around!

When we have weight loss surgery our vitamin and nutrition absorption is compromised, and so it harder  for us to get all the vitamins that we need. I would check with your surgeon to see if you become vitamin deficient. This is a leading cause of fatigue.

She's only three weeks post-surgery. Assuming she went through all of the pre-op medical tests, it's not possible to be vitamin deficient that quickly.
