How the Non-RNY people live

At events like this I often find myself eating cream cheese from a spoon (as it's the only really remotely healthy option in that list... and that's stretching it) and wishing all naturally thin people were dead ;)

I have done that kind of thing at finger food parties!

I'm a teacher, so people always want to have food for every meeting, for every occasion, and students often times bring in treats.  It's a hard knock life definitely.  Last week, the school was selling Krispy Kreme donuts by the dozen for a fundraiser.  Little do they know I can eat the whole darn dozen.  But, I have made it a point to tell all my students and teachers that I work with about having had gastric by-pass surgery.  They know that I struggle with eating and that I have to eat healthy.  I don't expect that they tip-toe around me, it's not their issue...but it's a constant mental struggle.  Sometimes, I don't fall for it at school but when I get home, it's on.  I can't fight the fight any longer.  I wish you the best of luck!

You know what always gets me-- they make a big push to not have soda's in the school, and our kids school newsletter even asks that we don't send in lunchables due to their poor nutritional value. But the first idea for a fundraiser involves bake sales, Krispy Kremes, Pizza kits or cook dough. Talk about sending mixed messages!

Amen!  Even today...the school is having Chik Fil A for our luncheon but it's the standard sandwich and fries.  I wish there were at least choices.

I so agree with that!!! What is that?  You cant have it under everyday cir****tances but you CAN have it under special cir****tances?

Watch everyday become a special day!

Here is what was said when overhearing a conversation between two normal people, "no matter what I eat, my weight doesn't vary more than five pounds.  Can you imagine what some people must eat to be the size they are?"

I often imagine what it would be like for normal people if they where served my cup of food on a six-inch plate.

You GET it!!!

They woudl be dead.

I am still waiting for the great famine to equalize us. They will be dead I will still be normal. The dif is..they starved and died and I starved and lived and am normal sized!

Honestly I don't know many "naturally" thin people.  My thin friends also watch what they eat - everything in moderation for most of them and they cut back as soon as their clothes feel snug.

I think this is the way we have to think once we are in maintenance - think like a thin person.  Other then moderation doesn't work too well for me so I limit my sugar/carb choices to infrequent occurrences.

To the OP - what they are offering as choices is the usual in the non wls world of eating.  Agreed we have to step up and bring alternative choices or exercise our willpower.
