NOT an over eater BUT an under eater
there is a series of thyroid panels, like 5 or 6 blood tests, I don't remember the name of all of them, but you need those tests done. some can show what is termed a low, or borderline low value with the rest appearing normal. When those are corrected with a thyroid support formula, it Can aid in weight control.(My daughter has this issue as well) .. and do you have PCOS too? make sure they check those hormones.... all these things will stop weight loss. You may have many more than one issue, but they are all treatable with suppliments.
I definitely second iloveraven's suggestion and log your food. Some times we don't realize exactly how many calories we are eating. On one of my many diets I wondered why I wasn't losing weight until I logged my food. It became obvious why I wasn't losing after. That oatmeal I had in the morning was more calories than I thought. That salad I had at lunch with the grilled chicken and cheese and half a bottle of dressing was probably more calories than I eat in a day now. I'm not a diet expert but if you don't have any other underlying conditions that are causing you to be obese it means you are taking in way more calories than you think for that one meal you eat.
Most of us lived in denial about how much we ate which led to our obesity. If you cannot be honest with yourself about how much you actually eat, you will not be successful post op. It's all about the calories. Exercise does very little either way (lack of it does not cause us to gain weight and more of it does not cause us to lose weight).
Good luck.

I am pretty sure that I am obese from this exact reason. Even starting as a kid except for when I has lunch at school, I would only eat one meal a day. I would barely eat or not eat anything all day and then dinner time came around and I would eat way more than anyone should eat in one sitting. After the surgery the only time I get hungry is if I eat carbs for some reason. I have been avoiding them like the plague now, and I have to remind myself to eat and get my protein in.
I think most ppl are afraid of failing. I know I certainly was, and I still have my moments when I feel like maybe I'm not doing enough. You're not alone ^^

Are you tracking everything you eat? It is pretty much impossible to be obese without consuming more calories than you need. I'd suggest tracking every single thing you put in your mouth for 2 weeks and see what the results are.

The eating 1 time a day puts my body into starvation mode.....so even though most of my meals were basic and healthy....because I didnt eat regularly, my body stored everything I ate since it didn't know when it's next meal would be. I have been largely whole life and when I was younger once a day worked for me,....now that I'm 35, I have to change everything I have previously done. I also use MyFitnessPal to count calories and I was VERY honest about what I was eating, including the days I occasionally had 2 scoops of ice cream.
Starvation mode only happens after you have exhausted all of your fat stores. If that were the case, you wouldn't qualify for surgery because you would be underweight and malnourished. How do you measure your food? MyFitnessPal is only as accurate as your measurements. That is why I weigh everything on my kitchen scale before entering it into MyFitnessPal. Before surgery, I was able to lose very slowly by eating less than 1500 calories per day. Please understand that I am only trying to help you.
