Nope. Can't imagine my life without meat or eggs.
It I gave up milk stuff like cheese or yogurt or whey .. Due to allergies...

I am allergic to milk products and soy. So I do drink vegan protein shakes, if I want a shake.. but beside that - most vegan food is so high in carbs - and my super MO body was very effective in storing any carbs. Plus carbs = cravings... Even now - long term post op - I need to limit carbs to maintain my weight loss...
even natural carbs - fruits and veggies - contain too much carbs...and not enough of proteins...
you may be a special one... but I seen too many MO or just obese vegans...

That's not true at all. In fact, a well-known bariatric surgeon, Dr. Garth Davis, recommends a vegan diet for his patients.
I do eat some dairy products, but not meat and no eggs, and not a lot of dairy. I get at least 60 grams of protein a day, and my protein and albumin levels are always good when I have labs done. And I am six years post op and only five lbs above my goal weight, so I think that is pretty successful.

Kelly, you are the only person I have ever seen on these boards who is successful with no meat and no eggs and I know you have some dairy. I also know that you are very knowledgeable about your diet and supplements. Few have your dedication and determination. That is why I posted that is highly unlikely to be successful without animal protein.
I am actually curious about Dr. Garth Davis's patients. He does a lot of Facebook posting and his arguments are sound. I would love to see some of his patients.
I lost my weight on a high protein diet and several years ago cut down considerably on the amount of meat I eat. For me that resulted in low iron on my labs and iron supplements started at seven years out.
I have family in Venezuela, where it is not convenient to eat high protein. Their everyday diet after surgery diet consists of rice, bread, bananas and other fruit, and vegetables. Meat and fish are special occasion foods and then a pound of beef feeds a family of six.
Their weight loss surgery patients that I have met are gaunt and sickly looking years after their surgery. People there were amazed that I had the surgery and did not look "sick".
