What's On Your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Good Morning menu posters! I hope everyone had a fab weekend and is ready to face this work week with gusto. *gag* LOL My son was in a serious funk yesterday, whining that he wanted the weekend to be longer and that there should be another day between Saturday and Sunday. Preach, kid.
So, I posted this on FB but my shopping excursion on Friday afternoon was a complete and total success. I found a pair of Citizens of Humanity jeans on the clearance rack at Macy's for $17. Seven. teen. dollars. I swear I almost passed out. Also? They make my ass look great. And this I didn't post on FB but I'll share with you guys. When I was shopping I overheard a conversation between a couple of women. One of them was holding up a pair of pants, saying "I used to be slim, but I'm not anymore" and the other lady said "You're still slim, you're like her", nodding in my direction. I was the 'her' in this story. Can you say NSV? Good times.

I am a "yea" when it comes to roasted pumpkin seeds. I made a batch yesterday with chili powder, garlic powder and Lawry's and they were bangin'. And as of this morning they are also all gone, thanks to my husband. He owes me a pumpkin. LOL
OMG! AV, I love the story about being "her" in Macy's! That's amazing. I'm guessing that you, like me, don't always see yourself as "slim" so it's nice when complete strangers remind us.
Last week was BRUTAL and I'm so glad it is over. I spent Saturday and Sunday at my parents and got some much needed "Mama Love" as I like to call it, it was restorative. I also had some shopping victories including scoring a pair of knee high dressy black boots for $35 on sale (they're fake leather, but for $35 I'm ok with that, especially because I haven't been able to find what I had in mind in real leather at any price), 2 new suits (both on Ross Clearance so $55 for BOTH), and an adorable black sweater dress.
Since taking my new job I've had some issues with stressing eating - but last week it was out of control. The other times were few and far between, but it was like every single day I went straight for poor food choices to "reward" and "distract." I know this isn't the way to deal with stress and I even know several "coping mechanisms" to try instead, but I went for the easy thing and picked up the M&Ms instead. Mind you, I even had to LEAVE THE HOUSE to purchase said M&Ms (and popcorn and froyo and on and on), so it wasn't like it was easy in that regard. Any advice for getting my head back in the game?

As for pumpkin seeds, I dig 'em! Which is somewhat funny since I hate actual pumpkin stuff. I used to make them with Srircha and SF syrup and they were sooo good. Might have to make that happen this week!

Thanks for posting about the TJ sausages. I went and got some, amazing protein/fat ratio!

Someone in my support group said they made a really big 2 column list on large chart paper and hung it on the fridge. One column was for the good things that have come from weight loss and the other column was for the bad things they felt about being overweight. She had to look at it every time she opened the fridge door, and it helped her make good choices. I wonder if that strategy might stop you from getting in the car to buy the M&Ms?
