For the ladies: menstruation question
I'm 5 weeks post op and having my first "real period". 4 days after surgery my body went into schlock I guess and I got a visit from the period fairy a week early, but it was very short.
Now things are "back to normal", but I can't eat. Every bite is forced. It's like the bloating is squishing all my organs and there is no room for food. I know. Weird. I can't describe the sensation. Anyone else experience challenges while menstruating post RNY?
I do!! I thought I was crazy at first because I was used to it when I had the band..but when I had the revision to RNY I was not expecting to feel so much tightness and restriction than normal. It was really weird. But yes I can definitely eat less. I might have to call it "soup week" again like I did when I had the band.
Surgeon: Dr. Heydari. Lap-Band to RNY bypass. Surgery June 23, 2015.
It really aches worse during heavy periods. If the cramps are so strong that the pain gets doubled, call for a checkup. The doctor may be able to treat painful periods that have a physical cause. If the flow is too heavy, count on pads or tampons. But you will need to change them frequently, instead you can try a menstrual cup such as Instead, Diva, Cupissima, etc. They store menstrual liquid for up to 12 hours minimum, hence one can do their activities without the fear of leakage too.
