Asking Everyone For A Birthday Present

My 42nd birthday is tomorrow. What a long strange year it has been! I received my RNY May 15, 2015. As of today, I am down 83 pounds. The scale has begun to move again after a loooooonng 3 week stall. (My body's birthday present to me) and I weighed in at 178 this morning.

My latest NSV is that I can wear over the calf boots! YAY!!!!!!!

My birthday wish is that everyone floods this forum with their own NSV's. I love hearing everyone's positive changes, and would really like to wake up tomorrow morning on my birthday and read about everyone's success! Thanks!

Congrats and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

My favorite NSVs:

  • My husband has been more affectionate lately. Not that he wasn't before, but just random hugs when we get home from work, or putting his hand on my hips and commenting on how much he likes my new curves.
  • Both of my fur boys (a dog and a cat) can sit on my lap at the same time now. It's adorable.
  • Being off all of the meds I was on for obesity-related conditions (diabetes, BP, cholesterol).
  • The sheer adrenaline and dopamine rush of finishing a long bike ride without being in immense pain after.
  • The anticipation of seeing my family this Christmas for the first time in 2 years.
  • Being able to shop for clothes at any store I want (although to be honest, this is still a little overwhelming).
  • Being able to wear cute shoes that aren't in a double wide.
  • Hiking for hours with my pup without my feet giving out.

Have your thought about becoming some sort of WLS ambassador or maybe holding.organizing bike rides for pre/post op WLS'ers for your support group? Maybe walks?

I think since you have been both sizes (i.e. MO and normal) your prior experiences may really be encouraging and helpful. You would also probably able to plan an appropriate walks/hikes/rides that ALL could participate in.

That's a good idea! The support groups are a little hard for me to make, but I'm a member of a Facebook group for another local hospital's WLS program, and I bet some people there would be interested. We are in the bike friendliest city in the country!

Happy Birthday!

*My best NSV is that my son got healthy with me. He is 18, did not have surgery, but went on a high protein, low carb eating plan and has lost 88 pounds on his own.

*No more acid reflux or diabetes

*I can fit in clothes off the rack, at regular stores, whenever I want to shop

*I've never been in size 6 in my life!!!

*My "skinny" friend tells me she is jealous that I am smaller than her now

*I can fit into any seat, anywhere

*I weigh less than my boyfriend!!! I feel smaller than him, and he can pick me up now.

*I wore a bikini on my vacation, also for the first time in my life.

*I feel happier, healthier, and in more control of my life.

*I save a lot of money not eating crap food and skipping drive-thrus.

*I can take the stairs, park far away, run.

*My lab work is all normal.

***Doctors listen to me instead of tell me all my problems are because I need to lose weight!!

*I spent every day of my 20's and most every day of my 30's being overweight, but when I turn 40, I will be healthy and have a normal BMI.

I'm sure there are more, but these are what come to mind right now.
