Is The Honeymoon Over Already?
I am 5 months out from my RNY and have lost 80 pounds. No complications at all. I have been following the plan all the way. The problem is that I have not lost any weight in three weeks. I have heard that when the honeymoon period ends, the weight loss drastically slows. Is it possible the honeymoon is over after only 5 months? I am thrilled with my current weight loss, but really wanted to lose another 40. Any insight on this?

The honeymoon doesn't get turned off like a switch. Malabsorption ends gradually, right from the start, but there is a lot more to the honeymoon period than malabsorption. Most of it is actually in your head.
Do you weigh and track your food closely? If you do, and you are certain you are following the plan, it's just a stall. Follow the plan, and you'll be fine.

Malabsorption mostly in my head? I can believe that! That's why you will often see "edited" in my replies; what I type and proofread before hitting the "submit" button ends up having a mistake. It might also explain why repetition helps keep me on track, whobbly wheels and all. Keep posting Grim and everyone, because the honeymoon isn't over until it's over. As you lose weight loss can slow a bit but I suspect you are in a stall. Stay the course and you will get past this. Your body is reassuring. The honeymoon is great but this is a long haul and doesn't end even when you do reach goal. If you read vets posts the successful ones are vigilant about their diet and exercise. Congrats on the 80 and you can lose the rest.
I found out that there were times when following my plan did not result in any weight loss. When that happened, I would change my plan to include less calories. I tracked everything in My Fitness Pal. Whenever the weight stopped coming off, I would go through my food logs and see where I could reduce calories.
I learned that my calories have to stay at 900 a day for me to continue to lose weight. For me, that is 500 calories less than what I need to maintain. I can eat quite well on 900 calories, getting most of my nutrition from dense protein. I currently am maintaining 136 pounds at 1400 calories a day.
For me to lose 40 pounds would take 40 weeks at 900 calories a day.
If your plan is not resulting in weight loss, then you need to figure out a plan that will. Many people have about six months of rapid weight loss and then just maintain for the rest of their honeymoon period.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
Stay on track and see where you go. The number on the scale will matter less as you live more. In a week or two, you might get a pleasant surprise when you get on the scale. I am 10 months out and only weight once a week - anymore would drive me crazy

I have no words of wisdom for you, but I can offer sympathy! I'm 5.5 months out and also have hit my first real stall. I'm down 57 lbs since surgery but still have another 15-35 to go. I'm debating between the "stay the course" and "change things up" options right now. I'm thinking I may need to drop my calories as we're quickly leaving comfortable bike riding season in the Pacific Northwest anyway.
I've always enjoyed being out, walking in the rain. It brings back the feeling of being a kid again.
Maybe you can approach it that way. (I never even bothered with an umbrella -- heavy blue jeans and a comfortable tee shirt (with whatever support "documents" you require inside that tee shirt) and you'll be fine. ;)
