NSV and Small Rant
So, I did have an NSV today- Turns out I don't need to unbutton my jeans anymore to take them off- Yay! I've got another pair that's a size smaller I may try on this weekend.
Small rant is that I saw my vascular doctor today, and apparently I can't work out (go swimming) for at least another month. The ulcer on my leg isn't healed enough, and it's going to take time. I'm so frustrated, I could spit nails.
And I know it's my fault. I get these ulcers from being overweight and having poor circulation. However, I had the surgery and started exercising and am steadily losing...
And then one of those little buggers shows up again, reminding me of how far I have to go and slowing down my progress via exercise prevention.
I had just gotten used to going there every day and it was becoming a meaningful part of my journey/life. * grumbles and stomps foot not in a cast *
I know, I know, keep up with the eating/vitamin plan and I'll still lose weight, but... but... I really liked the swimming.
I'll just have to be patient and wait.
Like waiting for Godot,

I went on vacation to Lake Michigan 2 weeks after surgery. I wanted to wade in the water and dip in to cool off. I bought some waterproof bandaids at CVS. They were about $1 each, but it was so worth $5 to get wet on a hot day. I took them off in 2 days because I didn't want anythiing to happen to my surgery wounds. I didn't know if I needed air on them for them to heal so I was afraid to keep them on longer. I hope you find something you can do until your sores heal.

Hi LynnAlex - I'm glad the waterproof bandaids worked for you. Unfortunately, even Tegaderm wasn't considered good enough, and it's the bes****erproof bandaging out there. What I have is a venous ulcer, and they just take forever to heal. (I don't recommend looking them up if you're squeamish.)
Thank you for the good wishes!

Do you have varicose veins? I had my mine taken of and what a difference. Have you had a second opinion?
Sharon
Hi Sharon0055- No, I don't have varicose veins. I'm glad you were able to take care of yours, though! I have what's called a venous ulcer. I haven't gotten a second opinion, as I've been seeing this surgeon for years and he really is one of the best vascular surgeons in New York.
I just have to suck it up and wait it out. And also check for any oddness on a weekly basis in the future and make an immediate appointment if I see anything remotely wonky.
The good news is that as I lose weight, these ulcers will happen less and less, eventually (I hope) stop. They didn't begin until I become MO.
Patience, patience,

I asked because my vein dr said that I could get ulcers if I didn;t have them treated - and insurance agreed and my procedures were covered. I thought that veins were just a cosmetic issue - I learned how serious vein problems can be. Good thing that your's will get less frequent.
All the best,
Sharon
Congrats on you NSV!! Why wait to the weekend to try on the smaller pair?? Try 'em on TODAY!!
Sorry about the leg ulcer. I get where you are coming from. I'm so content with my exercise routine right now that I'd be upset if something threw a hiccup in my plan.
Healing is part of getting healthy though...so focus on healing for the moment.
