Really impressed
So, I have been active on a few message boards in my time, and all my previous experiences have been somewhat negative. You all know that the Internet is full of trolls that like to stir up **** and there are always the mean ones who attack those that leave themselves open to it.
I was active on the birth boards at baby center while pregnant with my youngest and there were some real pieces of work there. I was afraid coming here would be the same. I'm happy those fears were unfounded.
I have been so impressed with everyone on these forums. I have seen very little animosity. Everyone had been awesome. This really has been a place for support.
I thought I would just post and let you guys know how awesome these forums have been for me. I actually feel really safe here.
Thanks guys and gals

I completely agree. Everyone on this board seems to be very skillful at being helpful without being overly critical (and without sugar-coating what shouldn't be sugar-coated).

Its funny, I used to come to OH 6ish years ago when I was newly banded. The bullying on the boards back then was awful! There were "surgery wars" and people who had a different surgery would troll other boards and tell them how terrible the surgery is that they chose. I had a dozen or more people blocked and it was getting ridiculous. I almost didn't try OH again when I had my revision because I was expecting that drama. I am so pleased to see how kind and supportive this site has become!

I met my best friends in the world on a breast cancer message board 8 years ago but there was also a lot of drama - when you're literally dealing with life and death and people you get close to die it was not a great experience. But I also got a lot of great advice and help so it was take the good with the bad. I was very happy to find a helpful message board like this one when I was thinking about the surgery!
