3 month post RNY lab questions...
I got my bloodwork for my 3 month lost surgery visit. My appt with the surgeon is 10-22. I will ask them also but want to know what the vets think.
I had bloodwork in Jan of this year at the start of my journey and am comparing the 2 results. My one question is about Vitamin B12. In Jan it was 995, red range 650-1340. Now it is down to 742, BUT reference range used on this says 200-1100. I am currently taking the Opurity Chewable multi plus the Opurity B12 plus folic acid. I am currently only taking the extra B12 3 days a week on M, W, F. Should I increase it? I am sure my doc will say it is still normal but it has went down.
I did bring my Vit D up from 20 in Jan to 63 this week.
My A1C went from 6.8 to 5.4!! Off all meds since surgery. My triglycerides went from 431 in Jan to 110 this week. Been off my meds for that almost 2 months now!
I can't find my precious results from Albumin and Prealnumin but this week they were 3.6 and 27.1. Is that ok?
My Ferritin went from 70 in Jan to 47 now. FE went from 50 to 42, %FE sat went from 13.85 to 13.37, TIBC went from 361.0 to 314.0. Are those still ok? I do take the Celebrate Iron and C nightly.
I don't urinate nearly as much as I used to. I do get plenty of fluids daily, that's not a struggle at all. My glom filt rate was 84.5, which says indicates mild decrease in kidney function. Should I be concerned about that?
Re: B12--I'm not familiar with the Opurity brand of B12, but the type needs to be sublingual or shots. Once we have RNY we lack the Intrinsic Factor which allows us to absorb the B12, so it MUST be sublingual or by shot.
I use the Trader Joe's B Complex sublingual, which is a tiny little tab that melts under the tongue in seconds. My levels have consistently maintained at 1081 for the past 10 years.
Whichever brand you use, make sure it's sublingual.
You might want to check into a different variety of Fe, also. You might not be absorbing enough.
You ferritin stoped very fast. You are not getting enough Or absorbing iron. You need more...
I can feel when my ferritin drops below 30... I would feel like Crap... I don't absorb iron ...so I need to depend on infusions... But you can try to maintain it...

That's what I was thinking also. I have super heavy periods. I have had an ablation last year and it didn't really help except instead of 7-8 day long periods they are 5-6 days now. Trying to decide if I want to try the ablation again. Should I up my dose or switch to a different kind? I currently do the Celebrate Iron and C, 30 mg ferrous fumerate and 60 of C. They have a higher dose one. I still can't swallow big pills, they get stuck. So I need a chewable or something I can open.
I would try ablation again. I know mine helped me a lot. From bleeding for 6-7 days to barely spoting.
Btw- I am since post menapousal, but I still need iron infusions...
In a meantime increase the iron. At least double that. I would also add hema iron - I.e proferin. Make sure you take it away for calcium, coffee, black tea, etc..
