Iron deficiency and severe hair loss
Im so sorry. I have been using patch vitamins and my iron has been good with those. Before that I used tender Iron from vitalady. Both worked pretty well. Just be aware of when you are taking your calcium. Were you taking anything before ..does your multi have any iron in it. When will they re-check? DO you know what any of your lab results were exactly or did she just say "anemic"

Thank you. I was doing Flintstone chewables 2x and calcium chews with vit D 2x a day. I added biotin because of hair loss and brittle nails. I have been struggling with this for yrs., but the hair loss lately (last 6 months) is massive. I go back in 6 months for a recheck, but I may see a hematologist before then to be sure I'm doing the right thing, before I end up bald!
Hemotologist is a good idea. If you are at a good weight you could consider patch vitamins. I have had very good luck with the patches and absorbtion. I still need separate b12 and D but otherwise my numbers are good with 1 patch over night. I also have an iud so I don't have heavy monthlies so my iron needs are not as great as some others. The numbers have been good in Iron, Ferratin, and Trans ferritin. I hope you get this figured out soon. Keep us posted

You likely won't raise your iron numbers by taking oral supplements. Many RNY patients have to get iron infusions periodically. Some of us simply do not absorb iron orally. You should make and appointment with a hematologist ASAP.
