Three days before surgery
My RNY is scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2015. I have paid cash for this process as insurance doesn't cover anything related to obesity. Ironic that insurance pays for Viagra, but not life changing surgery. I have had a cold but am finally over it and yesterday discovered I really wanted to chew something. Have been on liquids for a week. Then I looked at the cancelled check and the craving went away. I have read some horror stories here and I have read about some amazing journeys. I want my experience to be amazing. Tomorrow will hopefully be my last visit to a plus size store to buy a loose fitting dress - yay me!
Hope everyone has an amazing weekend and look forward to visiting the site for recipes and encouragement.
It WILL be the start of an amazing journey! Save an outfit from now when you start to lose weight so you can remind yourself later in the journey just how far you have come! I didn't and wish I had: I went from a tight size 24 to a 0 or 1 and have been there for over 2 years. It is not easy and requires being diligent and persistent but it IS possible. There is no way I could have done this without surgery as I had been obese my whole life. One thing that helps me make good decisions every day is to keep my before picture and a list of things I can do now that I couldn't at 272. Like the canceled check,it makes those choices easier!
Good luck! I had my surgery on 9/17 and couldn't be happy with my decision. While I sucks that you have to pay for the surgery out of pocket, I'm glad you put yourself first and are taking steps to make sure you live the best life possible. I can't wait to see what's in store for both of us a year from now when we're both significantly thinner.
In any case, best of luck with your surgery! I'll be sending positive thought waves your way on the 12th. :)
RNY on 9/17/15. High Weight: 375 / Surgery Weight: 330
