Acne after surgery?

I'm four and a half months post surgery. For the last month and a half I've horrible break outs. My skin looks horrible. Some of the pimples actually look like blisters. I'm not doing anything different facially than I did prior to surgery.

Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?

I never said it would be easy. I said it would be worth it.

I have. And I am just saying this here and not trying to sell anything I promise. I use rodan and fields redefine and its changed my skin. its expensive and I am sure there are other options but this works for me and has reduced some of my wrinkles and sagging. (who knows that may have gotten better on its own but for me it works)

I am 5 months out tomorrow and my skin is horrible. I have huge cyst pimples under my skin that are so painful. I've tried a few different things and so far nothing has worked. I used to have such beautiful, clear skin. Now it is a mess with bumps, blotches, and scars. I heard it was because of the hormones, but haven't been to a dermatologist to see if they can help. The husband says we have to pay off the hospital bills before I go rack up more bills at another doctor.

Hopefully, someone will have some words of wisdom for us.

I've had hormonal acne (primarily on my ***** ever since puberty, and my hormones definitely went crazy after surgery. I had the opposite experience though -- for the most part, it's cleared up. Even my hair is a lot less greasy. My doc thinks I had undiagnosed PCOS that improved with weight loss.

One thing to consider -- are you on birth control pills? They usually help with acne quite a bit, but after RNY they aren't absorbed as well (which is why we usually need a different form of BC post-op).

My face looked like a plague had taken over. It was from the hormonal dumping after surgery. The good news is that it stopped although I started using proactiv again. If I recall correctly, the horrible breakouts were from about 2 months out to about month 4. Good luck and you'll get through it!

I had no idea this could happen (I just had my surgery on 9/17). Thanks for sharing. I look forward to reading what others have to say.

I am 3 1/2 months out and since month 2 yes I have had crazy acne! I don't have any preventative cures but I use Tea Tree oil to clear it up super fast. I buy this little green jar from The Body Shop, many places sell Tea Tree oil, but something about The Body Shop's formula really works. ( (I don't work for the Body Shop or sell it) I'm just a girl who has one helpful solution for acne. As soon as I see or feel a blemish I poor some tree teal oil on a q-tip and hit the blemish area. It clears up almost over night. Bigger blemishes may take a little longer. I do a blemish check every night after I wash my makeup off, use the tea tree oil and it has been keeping my acne at bay.

Yes. It has happened to me too. Hormone dumping is the culprit I think. I started using a good exfoliator and it has helped. I now have small bumps on my chest and back that I never had before. I think that is from working out / sweat / sports bras. I have no idea. The exfoliator has helped on those areas as well. Good luck!
