Pre op diet
My pre-op diet experience was great (no hunger, no cravings) because I eliminated all processed foods and made meals that contained no/low sugar and processed carbs.
That would be my advice to you. Eliminate sugars. Eliminate processed/refined carbs. Make meals that are high in proteins and veggies. I don't know your weight, but aiming for 1200-1500 calories is a good bet. Here's a sample menu:
Breakfast: Two eggs with 1/2-1 cup of veggies (onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes). I added 1 skinny cow cheese and a dollop of Salsa
Lunch: 1 cup of chicken salad (homemade not store bought) with 12 slices of cucumber to eat the chicken salad with.
Dinner: 1 chicken thigh, 3/4 of a cup quinoa, and a salad or mixed veggies
High protein meals WILL eradicate your hunger, but only if you get sugar and processed carbs out of your system first.
Hope this helps!
RNY on 9/17/15. High Weight: 375 / Surgery Weight: 330
I got my surgery scheduled last friday. At that time they told me i have to lose at least 7 pounds (at the very very least). Mind you i have been on a low carb diet and other healthy eating plans for 6 months and have lost NO WEIGHT. This past week I lost 3 pounds and have 4 to go by the 15th. This is so stressful I understand. I have been doing a protein shake in the early morning when I get up then another around 10. Middle of the day I have eaten like a little (LITTLE) chicken salad sandwich or some lunch meat and cheese on a small (SMALL) piece of french bread then lots of water and a very very low carb dinner with lots of meat. The other night I had one piece of garlic bread and about 3 meatballs (which I added pureed carrots and broccoli to) in some meat sauce. I have not done any exercise as it just hurts too much. I am hungry at times especially if I have to wait too late for dinner. Last night I didn't get to eat until 10. I was like a hungry bear ready to ravage the kitchen but instead I just picked at the dinner that I was going to eat until it was all done. It is hard but I tell myself that getting up with an extra 150 pounds everyday is harder than losing a couple pounds and resisting that unhealthy food. If you can try Atkins that will help weight come off rather fast and it tastes good. You can eat a bacon and cheese omelet and stuff like that. It is not good long term but worth a shot to lose the weight quick. I hope this is somewhat helpful for you. Good luck itll happen before you know it.
Here is what worked for me to lose 13 pounds in the two weeks before surgery. It was tough at first, but after a few days my hunger started to decrease. But the end, I wasn't hungry anymore.
