Caffeine = MAGIC HAPPY MOTIVATION JUICE!!

I was cleared to add caffeine back in at 3 months, but because I don't like coffee and can't drink soda anymore, I didn't until just last week when I got some Crystal Light Energy packets. It's affecting me a LOT more than it ever used to, although in a good way! I drink 1 packet of it 2-3 times a week, and I swear it's magic happy motivation juice! My mood's better, I'm more productive at work, all of the things coffee addicts joke about. Just curious if anyone had this super magic response when adding caffeine back in. Is it hitting me sooner now post-RNY and having a stronger/quicker effect like we're warned alcohol will? Or is my tolerance just way down after 5 months caffeine-free? Either way, I hope I can keep it!

Hi I'm Audrey and I'm a Diet Mountain Dew addict (and Rockstar Recovery, and Monster Rehab, and...)

When I started caffeine again, it hit me like a train.  I was a shaky, wide-awake mess.  Poor Pouchy and my small intestine didn't know whether to laugh, cry or dance the Whip/Nae Nae.

Now four years later, I chug the stuff like water.  Like anything else, your body and your re-aligned GI system will get used to it eventually.

I drank caffeinated coffee by the gallon pre-surgery. My team told me to stop a month before surgery and I totally ignored the advice and drank up til the last second.

Post op I'm only on decaf. The other day I ordered at Dunkin Donuts and they did not give me decaf. Holy #$&@!!! I was shaking like a leaf and felt like my mind, heart and body were RACING. It actually didn't feel too good, so I'm back to decaf.

But it's nice to know that if I need a jolt, I can get it!

I've also noticed it significantly dulls my appetite, especially in the mornings when I'm particularly ravenous. Bonus!

I'm addicted to skinny vanilla lattes from Starbucks.  I like the way it makes me feel.  I have maybe 3 per week vs the one per month of white choc. Mochas I had pre surgery.

I cannot wait until I am cleared to have caffeine again. Gah!

I was never a big coffee drinker or soda drinker. I was however I serious unsweetened ice black tea drinker. I would drink a Trenta size shaken blac**** tea from Starbucks at least once a day. Then I would get home and refill the cup with the sun tea I had made at home.

I was fortunate that I didn't suffer in real "withdrawal" symptoms when I stopped cold turkey but it was such a habit in my life that I can't wait to have it again.
