Average weight loss first 90 days after surgery
It varies greatly. You see people losing upwards of 100, and others at 40. And some (like me) factor in total weight lost, pre and post op. (The further out you get the less the pre/post op distinction matters IMO... It's all weight gone- never mind the means )
I think it's way too random to average. As they say "results aren't typical".
5'6.5" High weight:337 Lowest weight:193/31 BMI: Goal: 195-205/31-32 BMI
That's pretty impossible to say. Some people weigh 500, some weigh 250. Some are over 6 feet tall, some are under 5 feet. Some lose a whole lot before surgery, some gain. Some have a good eating plan and follow it closely. Some have a crappy eating plan, or don't follow it closely.
You can see where asking for an average can't really be done.

Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
When I am looking for a ballpark figure. I look at people's signature and try to find someone with my stats. I am over 50, I lost 25 pounds in the 2 months prior to surgery and I am a lightweight. So I expected to lose about 10-15 pounds the first month and perhaps 8-10 the next couple and dropping down from there. I do really well with water and exercise and lose 2 pounds in a week, the next week I will lose 1-3 pounds every day, then lose only 1 pound the next week. There really is no rhyme or reason to when the weight comes off. I weigh daily, but when I gain (after craving salt), I don't pay any attention to the numbers. As the others have said, this is for life, this is the way I have to eat.

This won't necessarily tell you what YOUR results will be, but it might give you an idea.

Check out this video by Dr. Matt Weinder, it summarizes the medical studies and gives good guidance.

Can't thank you enough for sending the link to the video. I watched it twice and now see why everyone says it is impossible to say an average weight loss post surgery. I go for my screening appointments in a few days and am anxious to hear all that each representative has to say. And of course I have so many questions for the MD.
Thanks again, and hope you are enjoying your weekend.
