I just wanted to attack a container of Cool Whip with a spoon

My hubby successfully shamed me out of it. Good hubby; good hubby. The craving demon has passed.

I've fully resigned myself to the fact that I will fight a head battle against overeating (and unwisely eating) for the rest of my life, and that all I can do is take every challenge as it comes.

And know this. You'd have felt like total crap if you'd done it.

Actually, I hate to disagree, but I have used Cool Whip as an ice cream substitute on days where I just have to have something cold and the store is out of my favorite sugar free popsicles.  I toss some in the freezer and eat a small scoop after dinner.  Sugar-wise, it's not the worse choice you can make, although probably not until you have reached goal...

Or make your own, with straight whipping cream and Splenda.  Fewer fillers and chemicals than Cool Whip, and higher in protein and fat, which you need anyway.

It's definitely not terrible relatively speaking, which is why I bought the tub in the first place (I heard about someone mixing it with PB2 to make faux peanut butter pie and thought it sounded delicious). The problem is I wanted to eat the ENTIRE container.

I totally hear you.  I once counted out five Cheetos from a larger bag on the theory that five of them wouldn't kill me, especially as they are (like Cool Whip) relatively harmless compared to some other munchies.  After the five I wanted the rest of the bag so badly, I had to throw it away in the outside garbage I keep dog poop in... so I wouldn't be tempted to eat the rest!  No more Cheetos for me... can you say trigger? :)

One thing I have learned when someone calls me out on when I am eating something. I have a tendency to go back to some bad behaviors. So I think he is being a good husband. But don't let him shame you. Our heads need to be changed. It takes time.

I schedule a snack at night that is included in my meals for the day. So when I do want something it is there.

If Cool Whip is a trigger food get it out of the house.

Yep, getting it out of the house is the plan. It's such weird foods that trigger me -- I'm fine with chips, cereal, etc. in the house. But Cool Whip, bread, or rice cakes; watch out! And to be fair, I was being a little hyperbolic when I said he shamed me. I told him my plan (probably hoping deep down he'd talk me out of it), and he just asked, "are you sure that's really what you want to do?" I said "yes!" and he said, "ok then, as long as you've thought about it." Then I decided against it. He's a good guy.

I like to mix a container of Cool Whip with a couple containers of Greek yogurt and freeze it in individual portions for my "ice cream" fix.  So yummy and I don't feel the least bit guilty about it.
