Severe pains lower left side of abdomen

im 8 days post RNY.  I had my week post op yesterday.  I am still having bad pain in one area.  The lower left side of my abdomen has sharp stabbing pains that come and go.   When j awoke this morning and stood up they were worse than ever. I feel like it hurts to bad to take deep breathes.  My surgeon said this is commonly the last area to heal.   Did any of you have this?  I'm okay with taking time to heal but this seems like more pain than any of the other areas involved. Any explanations would be appreciated.  

I'm not a doctor, but I'm a week out today, and I have no pain at all.  If it isn't gas or constipation, I'm at a loss.  You need to take  deep breaths, so if it hurts to breath, then you should call your doctor and see if this is normal.

I remember one weekend not to long after having my surgery experiencing pain like that when I would go to get up and move. It lasted a few days. My doctor said that it was normal as long as the pain didn't come and stay.
