If I had to spend 5 hours in a  car with my boss I would die.  LOL  I mean, she's perfectly nice and all, but it would be super weird.

Good morning,

I hate when work gets in the way of life.

Went to the Tufts support group last night. They have them every month and luckily they have one sort of local to me.  We discussed food triggers and how to handle them.  I don't think I learned anything new, but it did reinforce things I had read before.

Time since surgery: 5 months

B:  Premier Protein Shake

L:  Turkey, Cheese, Lettuce Rollups

D:  Pork Tenderloin and green beans (didn't cook last night after all).

S:  Mary's gone crackers and babybel

Cals:  691  Carbs: 34  Fat:  27  Protein:  78

Did you have surgery at Tufts? Dr. Kim was my band surgeon there, and then I followed her to Mt. Auburn, which is much more convenient for me.

Yes, Dr. Shah did my surgery.  Dr. Julie Kim is still at Tufts, or at least she was last month when I was there.  I have never met her though.

Both of them work at both hospitals, which is nuts to me!

Shah scrubbed in on my surgery, I guess, but I never met her.

Having been a patient at both places I can tell you that I really like Mount Auburn better. The office is so easy to get to (right off rt 95 in Waltham), free parking, and the office environment is just so much calmer, and never any long waits. Not sure if getting to Tufts is an issue for you, but it was a pain for me!

Coming from the South Shore both are an issue to get to, but Tufts is a bit closer, right at the Chinatown exit.  I've never had a long wait there though except to check in with Maria.

We all have the whole work interfering with life game going on today! I am always on the "cusp" of being overwhelmed... today I feel I am slipping in over my head!

So, I went to my 6 mth doctor appt yesterday (3 weeks late). Appointment started off with the patient coordinator telling me that I really need to keep my appts.  What??? She then told me that when I was approved for surgery, I had made a commitment to appts every 3 months for the 1st year... to which I replied, yes, this appt is 3 weeks late but that was how your office scheduled it, not me. She looked at me funny and said well, you haven't been here since your 6 week check. I told her to check again... I had been there 3 times since my 6 week check. Oh, oops, she was thinking of a different client! So, then of course, my back was up!  LOL... it gets worse. She then asks me when did I start smoking again... I can smell it on you. I told her that I haven't smoked in almost 4 years and that I live with a smoker that refuses to smoke outside and smokes in my truck.  She looked skeptical!  I was really kind of deflated because I have always built this office up because of their great attitude.

Well, then the NP comes in and is mad with me because I haven't been back to the nutritionist or the exercise coordinator... which then I had to explain to her (again) that I just changed jobs and was in training for 3 months and couldn't take any time off. She did remember this convo, but still said that I should have gone, regardless.  By this time, I was thinking I should have "missed' this appointment. She also told me that I should have lost 50 more lbs... that I only have 6 more months that I am going to be able to lose weight. I didn't say it, but I wanted to say that I thought everyone was having a *****y Monday and needs to lighten up! What happened to not ever giving me a goal... that this was my journey and all of that ****  Well, now, I guess I am having a *****y Tuesday!

LOL! So, since I have started my journey back in September of 2014... since my 1st informational meeting... I have gone from 440 lbs to 298 lbs.  I am pleased with my weight loss, but now instead of being pissy at how they acted, I am now resolved to show them that I am not a slacker... I already made my nutritional appt, I am waiting to hear back from the exercise therapist, and I am not going to be weighed down by the general downer atmosphere in their office yesterday.  Now, I am in the "I'll show you!" mode! Wish me luck!

My menu today:

B: Tea with Truvia, a chocolate Premier Protein shake.

L:  1/2 homemade beef and bean burrito... not as carb friendly as I would have liked... need to experiment more.

D: 3 oz of talapia and 1/2 cup of sauteed parm zucchini

S: 1/4 Premier Protein bar, 2 oz of sharp cheese

Totals:  Calories - 904, Protein - 82, Carbs - 55, Sugar - 6, Fats - 43

Water and Vits going in. Exercise - gym after work (late)

Oh, and I told my husband that he is no longer allowed to smoke in my SUV and once I start painting the inside of the house, NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE!!!  or he can leave! And, on Sunday, after yardsale Saturday, I am going to go look at paint and pick colors! So he can start setting up his smoking den in the storage building!

See, everyone is gonna see my "I'll show you!" mode!  LOL... I still really do like my dr.'s office... they were just having an off day.

Everyone have a better day!!

Damn!

Do not let this set you back!   You have done an amazing job so far!  142 lbs in one year is nothing to sneeze at!  You are rocking this and you know it!

Stay Fierce!

Oh, don't worry! I am kind of ***** when push comes to shove. My maiden name is Miller and we have a family saying about getting that "Miller look in your eye" meaning that we can be pushed to a certain point and then you can tell by the mean look we can get (we are a very attractive people, according to my Uncle) but we can kill with just a look!  And, I have that look now.

And, really I needed this kick in the pants... I have become complacent in the last couple of months... letting carbs slide back into my diet and not being as resolved as I could have been. But, I am back on the horse and I am going to ride!!

I feel like a Katy Perry "Roar" video or a Kelly Clarkson "Stronger" video might be in order!
