Am I Ready?
I had some hiccups during the pre surgery diet too. I have a coworker who started a liquid diet in prep for surgery, but did so well and lost so much weight that she decided to not go through with it. She looks fabulous.
I cheated off and on for the first few months after I had my consult. I lost 15lbs, but knew that if I wouldn't have cheated I would have lost so much more.
I had surgery and I've lost so much more weight in the last 7 weeks than I ever could have lost on my own. I was afraid that I couldn't stick to the plan, but honestly you would have to really willfully push yourself and hurt yourself physically to cheat like we used to.
I look at the process kind of like quitting smoking. I smoked for 23 years and quit in 2012 with the help of the nicotine patch. That patch was the tool I used to get me through the part where I was able to change my habits. Once I broke myself of the habit of smoking, I didn't need the tool and was able to stay away from cigarettes. My pouch is the tool that will help me break the bad eating habits I've had my entire life. I expect by the time I'm past my honeymoon phase, I'll be so used to eating right that it will be second nature.
Goodluck!
I was in the same place you are. I was so undecided and even as they wheeled me to the OR I was still wondering if this was the best step. But, today feeling great, I know I did the right thng. So, what I'm saying is that you may never know for sure, but you are taking the frist steps of the rest of your life. You can do this!!! I have lost weight and gained it back so many times. Yes, I can loose the weight, but keeping it off is another thing. My doctor told me I had the lowest BMI of any patient he did surgery on. I don't know what he meant by that, but I had loss 40 pounds prior to my surgery. I am now a week out and walking 2 miles and not hungry at all. I used to eat when I was bored, but now I don't even want to eat. I am so excited about what the future holds.
Good luck.
