Will my stomach ever feel normal again?!?!?

I am 7 weeks out and my stomach feels awful, morning, noon and night.  I talked to my surgeon and nutritionist and they doubled up on my stomach pills (can't remember the name- I'm on them for 3 months post surgery).  They are for GERD but help your stomach heal.  If it's not better by next week they want to see if I have an ulcer.  They both said that this is not normal. Call your doctor ASAP.

I have the same "icky" stomach.  At 5 weeks they found an ulcer.. covering 40% of my pouch.  I only eat soft foods still even at 9 weeks and my stomach still is very unhappy after I eat.  I only eat about 2 ounces at any one time.  Having to do small small sips to keep hydrated.  I also am on a boatload of tummy meds.    If you are having issues keeping fluids down go to your DR ASAP  i waited to long and was hospitalized x 2 for dehydration.  Hang in there.. I have also had some doubts about my decision for surgery.. but then I remember with a 40 pound weight loss my BP is better and so is my blood sugar and I am off of 4 different prescriptions.. so my inner body has some great things happening.

I felt like **** for a couple of months. It's a big adjustment. Your symptoms do sound pretty classic for dehydration. I also had hypertension pre surgery. I was on 4 meds. By 8 weeks out I was off of all them and I've never had to take them again. Do you have a way to check you b/p at home?

Drink,drink,drink.

Hi gerinurse!

I know at the beginning it feels like **** lol....pardon my use of the word but it does.  I vomited all the time...food even if i kept it down i felt sick and needed to lay down...I didn't feel human until 2 months.  Honestly...don't eat potatoes of any kind...at least not yet....stick to yogurt, pureed meats...soups...add protein power to the soup... cream of wheat and measure everything....I would try something and then if it made me sick i waited 2 weeks.  Stay on liquids until you try something that goes down well.  But really dont eat potatoes and bread stuff for a while yet.  I am an RNY but it is rough but when  you hit 2 months it will all change.  You will still have  to eat carefully but you will make it...best of luck...Kim

I do drink and eat a lot more than what I listed above lol.. Im forcing myself to sip on water day and night.  And my primary doubled my protonix..hoping it works soon.  And the baked potato was the np and nutritionists suggestion.. no skin just the potato (mind you I can take 3 bites) very mashed with low fat cheese...again didn't go out on my own,  their suggestions.. Otherwise I'm drinking protein shakes,  low fat cheese sticks, puree tuna fish, beans, strained soups, eggs, crystal light occasionally, low fat/low sugar greek yogurt, and for  a treat sugar free pudding..  Praying the icky stomach will ease sooner than later.
