Hair Coloring Question

So my hair decided to start falling out a few weeks ago, unfortunately at the same time the greys decided to pop out too.  Normally I would run to my stylist and have some highlights done, but I don't know if that would make things worse.  Has anyone else colored their hair while it was still falling out?

I have been coloring my roots since a month out even when I was losing the hair.  It didn't seem to make anything worse.  I just started using Kerinque (sp?) 30 day when I noticed new hair growth.  It does not stop the hair from falling out, but it has helped "grow" the hair quicker.

I asked this question to a professional salon academy instructor who answered, "going a darker color doesn't affect hair like stripping hair color and perming hair does." But I decided the "new me" was going to have hair as clean and natural as my eating lifestyle had become.  I lasted a year and half with gray hair like in the photo you see.  Then, a woman I really like and respect told me I needed to go back to red hair.  That's all it took...back on red but I'm too tight to update my photo (yes, I paid to get this photo on OH).

I colored my hair all through the phase when it was falling out and didn't have a problem.  My stylist told me that coloring makes the hair appear thicker, so it actually looked more healthy.  I have a ton of really thick hair and lost about 45% of it, but it always looked healthy.  I say color away!

I continued coloring my hair even through the heavy hair loss phase (months 3-8).  No problem for me at all.

My stylist too said it would actually plump the hair up and make it appear fuller. I've colored it all along and never had an issue.

Thank you ladies!   That is the answer I was hoping for!   I know it plumps up my hair, but I was afraid to try since I was losing so much.

You gals just made my day!  Now to call my sytlist!

Coloring doesn't affect the hair loss I don't think though I can understand your hesitation. My solution is to use a five minute pre shampoo color... nice and easy . Its non invasive and since my hair gets mauled often enough through work it just keeps my roots at bay and keeps me attractive enough to get jobs :)

Hope this helps. Minozidil works if youre scared of the loss ... it stops it . Biotin works to grow the hair back . REALLY . Expect hair to sprout everywhere though lol :)
