Not sure about your vitamins and or type of Bariatric foods you are eating for 1 week post op.. I remember not eating foods, just liquids for a few weeks in the beginning. Maybe 3 ounces would work better for you? Are you allowed yet? Work your coping skills and that could help to keep your mind off of food. Your newly post op and try to relax... no rush.

I was off liquid 1 day post op.  I am on total puree foods for 8 weeks. I thin I will try tuna.  That might work. I get 2 ounces each meal one ounce protein with eiither an ounce of puree fruit, veg, or starch.  I am having no problem with any of the foods or protein drinks.

Wow. You are really advance for just 1 week post op. I d understand that eat person is different. I had a really hard time with my pouch and foods for a long time. I was not eating eggs until year 2... As long as I got my protein in and vitamins I was ok and my labs were good too,. These days post op 2.5 yrs, I can eat everything but I manage to make sure I do Bariatric food list and Bariatric menus. Biggest thing has been the coping skills learned during pre-op.... golden. Good luck.

So you pureed an egg?!?  Yuck.

You have to be in purees for EIGHT weeks? Wow.  That is extreme.

You will definitely feel fuller if you purée items with more substance to them.  Pureed fruit just slides right through your pouch, so it isn't any wonder you are hungry.

I am very surprised that your food plan calls for a starch! That is the last thing you need, even just an ounce.  One of the hardest things for almost every single one of us is breaking free from carbs, so intentionally ingesting starches post-op is like shooting yoruself in the foot.  Seriously... Reconsider the starches (even starchy veggies like potatoes). You may regret it later if you don't.

I appreciate your input but yes they give you an ounce of starch at dinner. This is a huge program and i am sure they know what they are doing since they have done over 1500 surgeries. I will follow their instructions.  Yes had an ounce of sweet potatoes last night.  They are a center of excellence an my surgeon the national board of bariatrics so I think she knows what she is doing.

An MD or DO after a person's name does not mean they know what they are doing.  You only have to read a dozen posts or so here to realize that.

If you are stuck on following their instructions, then don't ask us for help and advice.  Otherwise, try to keep an open mind, especially when people with years of success are just trying to be helpful.

It is fine to ask people for advice it is the way they respond that lets me know what kind of person they are and truthfully you are not one that I wish to listen to agree to disagree here is the info one the parmesean crisps that I am allowed per MY DOCTOR as a protein They are made entirely from cheese  7 Protein, 2 carbohydrates and no sugar and I bought them at the bariatric boutique at the hospital where I had surgery.  Feeling great today not hungry and down 8 lbs one week post op!

Thanks for all your help Audrey!

I did not question your cheese crisps, nor did I even mention them.  Please review my post.  I questioned your blind obedience to your doctor.

But as you wish.  Peace.

I would love to see exactly what your post op instructions state and to know the name of the hospital that has this specialty boutique.

You have stated that you are on pureed foods for 8 weeks, yet are eating cheese crisps.    Those crisps do not melt in your mouth as you stated and I know this because I purchased these  kitchen table bakers  from Walmart yesterday.

I was served a bowl of mashed potatoes with a slice of cheese on top at the hospital. I didn't eat the potatoes. Your surgeon may have done many surgeries, but what does she consider success? 60% excess weight lost like most? Maybe that's good enough for you, but I choose to take my advice from those who have lost 100% of their excess weight.
