What's On Your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
I have a hard time with my vitamins on weekends! I am such a creature of habit during the week that I am good then.
Baby boy was sick this morning, then I had an intake appointment to try and get him evaluated for speech therapy...now I am at work. PHEW busy busy this morning
5 Months 1 week since surgery
B: 3/4c Fairlife skim milk, 1 scoop syntrax milk chocolate
S: Sargento Balanced break (with cheddar cheese, cashews, and dried cranberries). Had this on the drive home from the intake appointment
L: Dannon L&F Greek yogurt with 30g slivered almonds (If I could eat this every meal of every day, I would! Yogurt is always good to my pouch....meat...not so much ugh)
S: 2 Baybel light cheese
D: Homemade chicken cordon bleu
Totals: Cals: 785 Protein: 79 Carbs: 36 Fat: 36
I may have a before bed snack if I need it.
I also hear ya on the vitamins! They are NOT my favorite things! And, I find them quite expensive... but then, I think I am becoming a miser in order to feed my QVC addiction!
This is what I take... I take 2 Centrum Silver chewable multis (morning, evening), Celebrate B12, sublingual, 1 in the morning, 2 Citracel Petites in the morning and 2 at supper (and just realized that I was only taking 800 mg a day... dammit)... so I am going to have to up this somehow. And, I hate these things... even though they are petite... they are pretty flipping solid and hard to swallow without a good swig of something. I guess I am going to have to take 2 more at bedtime... that will put me at 1200 mg until I can go back on something chewable from Celebrate... as long as its calcium caltrate, right? And, then I also take an Iron pill at lunch... I currently take Celebrate 18 mg plus Vit C. That's all the vitamins I take... there is Vitamin D (500 IU) with the calcium. But, that's it... should I be doing more? Because, if you say I do, then I am going to cry!
So, everyone, I blew my menu last night... instead of supper and my late snack... I blew off the gym and just ate a Big Crusty Kaiser Roll with about a tablespoon of butter on it. It wasn't even good... and after about 3 bites, nauseated me. WTF is wrong with me... it's that whole "you can't eat bread thing" that my head can't take. Part of my issue is not letting time get away from me... if I eat off schedule or late... my brain can't take it! Oh well, I weighed myself today and I was down 2 more lbs.. LOL... I think sometimes that God gets a good laugh from me!
My menu today (and I am sticking to it):
B: Tea with Truvia and a chocolate Premier Protein shake
L: P3 pack with chicken, peanuts and cheese
S: 1/2 Premier Protein Yogurt Peanut Crunch protein bar
D: 1 cup of homemade veggie beef soup
S: 1 oz of sharp cheese
Totals: Calories - 862, Protein - 81, Carbs - 47, Sugars - 10, Fats - 41
Vitamins/water going in! No exercised scheduled today but we are cleaning out our back room and a couple of closets so I won't be sitting on my tail!
Everyone have a great day!!
Ah, bread is a sneaky, sneaky thing! *hugs* (I just had to throw some in the trash from my lunch soup order.) Go you for being back on the proverbial horse today- and good luck with the cleaning out of the back room!
Autumn cleaning,

Good morning from sunny So. Cal. I hear you on the vitamins and I'm also on 2 doses of PPI a day that has to be taken on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before I eat anything. Who knew that I'd have to become proficient at math after surgery. I HATE math word problems, LOL!! I decided to forego my run last night because I couldn't face the "eat back all the calories you burn" challenge. I used the excuse that I had to take my dog to the vet! I won't let myself do that today, so off to the park or the gym tonight. As a result, my menu is totally up in the air as I have to anticipate how many calories I'll burn so I can eat them back. I really need to get the hang of early morning workouts . . . it would make eating so much easier. Here's the plan as it stands right now:
B: Ground turkey, spinach and mozzarella with a skinny vanilla latte
S: Somersaults and grapes
L: Chicken thigh and quinoa salad
S: light and fit and Peanut Butter
D: Pork Loin and Salad (last night's dinner didn't happen because of the visit to the vet)
S:??
Totals: Cal. 1088; Protein: 103g; Fat: 46g; Carb: 60g (there will be more food added later since I'm 100 calories short of my target and that's BEFORE exercise . . .UGH!)
We don’t have much food in the house since the liquid diet for me starts Monday. I have enough leftovers vacuum-sealed and frozen for the hubby to have stuff to eat when he’s home, plus plenty of protein-forward snacks like jerky and cheese… so hopefully he doesn’t starve! Because of the empty cupboards, I am allowing myself a few meals out this week. Nothing crazy and “last meal”-like… but definitely loosening my strictness for a few days before it’s all liquids for a while!
Today was another dentist appointment/consult… I had one a few weeks ago who quoted me $10k for all of the work needed. This one today is $1.5k for the work and $3k for the anesthesia if I want to go that route. Being someone with TMJ, I can’t afford to be down for the count after multiple dental work appointments, so all-in-one is going to be somewhat necessary… Now I need to decide whether I want to pay $85 for Nitrous Oxide or $3k to be put under. Going to be about 4 hours of dental work and I can’t decide. Uggghhh!
Surgery Status: Pre-Op, Surgery is in 11 days!
L: ½ a Chipotle Steak Salad (w/ No Rice) Black Beans, Guacamole, Cheese
D: The rest of the Salad
S: Babybel Light Cheese + Chocolate Premier Protein Shake

Yikes on the dental work! Nitrous oxide is a blessing, I have to say. All that said, if your insurance or you can swing it, I would go with being put under. That way you go to sleep and don't have to sit through it all, awesome high aside.
I've had some dental work myself, and after a couple of bad experiences that I had, I'm always going to opt for nitrous oxide if they can't knock me out.
Anyhoo, that's just my two cents.
Bridges and fillings and crowns, oh my!,

I had nitrous oxide when I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once. It was beautiful thing! I remember laughing through the process and that includes when they put the mouth spreader on! On the bad side I couldn't eat anything solid for 3 days.
B: 1/3C egg beaters, 1 1/2 oz Canadian bacon, 1 slice lowfat cheese
L: 3oz chicken breast, 1 slice lowfat cheese

S: soy crisps

I read all of the responses to your post and I am starting to wonder if I am missing something. I go to a support group for weight loss patients and a bunch of the girls there recommended a chewable multi from ProCare Health. I am in Canada but have ordered it from the States and it is $13.99 for 30 pills. You take one in the morning. I take extra Calcium/D3 2 tabs at lunch and 2 tabs at dinner. I also take 1 iron tab at bedtime. I am 7 months post op and have had my labs done at 3 months and again at 6 months. I only started taking the iron in the last month because my hemoglobin was a teeny bit low. It just seems to me that a lot of people are making the whole vitamin process more difficult than it needs to be. Like someone said "there has to be an easier way..." There is...find a more complete multi and take it or am I totally off base?
Why don't you take a multi with iron in it? Then you just have to worry about calcium. I started leaving the chews in a jar on the counter so I would see it. Here's a good chewable with iron...

My multi does have iron, but it's not enough. My numbers have been slipping since the surgery so I need to supplement. I was taking 2 ferro-sequels, but now I'm up to 4. I'm having my labs run again next month so we'll see what happens.
