What's on Your (photo) Friday Menu, RNYers?
You will enjoy eating again eventually. It's still early days. At 5 weeks I was still eating mostly yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs and protein shakes. I still have a protein shake for breakfast every day. I was only eating about 400 calories a day at that point. I now only eat about 650-750 calories most days at 4-1/2 months out. I still cannot eat tuna, but I can eat chicken finally. I do best with pork tenderloin, steak, shrimp or scallops. I do not eat rice or pasta regularly, I have had a small amount of both recently. 5 weeks is way too early too try bread, I didn't have any until about a month ago and only have it once in a while.
At first I did not cook at all, except for maybe an egg for myself. Luckily my husband also likes to cook. I do enjoy cooking again and have tried some of eggface recipes which you can find here and on pinterest. Also try Bariatriceating.com. If the thought of a certain food makes you gag, don't try to eat it, try something else. My favorite meats at the beginning were chicken sausage with some marinara sauce, or a nice meat sauce with some ricotta. As long as you get your protein in you will be OK. I always have protein shakes, yogurt and cheese in the house to make sure I get enough protein, and for those times I have that craving for sweets I keep sugar free jello pudding. It does the trick.
It gets better. I am a total foodie and love to cook. I have found that trying different recipes that people list on this thread helped me to get through. 5 1/2 weeks is early on. I really started noticing that I could eat more variety at around 3 months. It is so worth it! Three months of stuff that you don't necessarily love to have the opportunity to lose enough weight that you feel fantastic and can do anything that you want to do. Easy choice for me . Try not to get discouraged. Things will get so much better and the more you can move, the better you will feel! Great pic! What a cutie!
