Insure Nutrition website?

I usually access OH on my phone, and don't really pay attention to any advertisements on the site while using it.  Today I accidentally left my phone at home (gasp, I feel naked) and am surfing on my lunch break at work.  I noticed a link on the bottom of the page for Insure Nutrition advertising that they could possibly get my protein drinks covered by insurance.

Has anyone ever used this service?  i use Premier Protein, which is one of the brands they advertise.  It would be really cool if I could get my insurance to cover it, but I don't know how much I trust that this is legitimate.

Thanks for any insight.

How long are you going to be on shakes ?

My plan is to use them for supplements for the first 6 months maybe longer, so I'm looking at another 4 or 6 months minimum.  I drink maybe one a day, and supplement if it looks like I'm not getting my protein in.

Generally, the only time nutritional supplements, including liquid nutrition, is covered under an insurance plan is when it is used as part of tube feeding.  It is very unlikely that your insurance will cover protein drinks as part of your weight loss program after RNY.

There were a couple of people a while back who said that their insurance did aree to cover it, so if you do a search you might find those posts. I'm not sure what the deal was or how the company scammed the insurance company since, as already, indicated, special dietary products are not covered by insurance.

If you are not already using their products, keep in mind that you may not like them. (just a thought, since I didn't like 75-80% of the protein powders I tried.)

Honestly it is not something that I'd ever considered, I only thought about it because I saw the advertisement on the site.  I don't drink enough of them to make me push for it, I was just curious.  Thanks for all the info!

I found that my insurance is covering much more than I expected, so I am going to see if they cover protein supplements for me.  I figure, it can't hurt to try. I'll let you know how it goes!  The registration form gives you a choice between 2 protein drinks, and Premier Protein is one of them... which I know I like. Best case scenario, I don't have to pay $18/case at Sam's Club!
