Good morning all!  How did everyone fare this long holiday weekend?  My trip downstate was busy, but fun.  I never made it to the BBQ because my GPS took me to a place where there was no house, and I didn't have anyone's number AND I couldn't get a wifi signal anywhere in the nearest town.  LMAO  After about an hour of driving around I said **** it and went back to my Dad's.  But I was glad I did because on a whim I was like "Do I still have any clothes here?" and my Dad said, "Yeah, the shed has like 5 of those plastic wardrobes in it".  *recordscratch*    I was out there so fast you'd think I was being chased by a bear.  I came home with a **** ton (actual measurement) of dresses and coats and sweaters that were still in dry cleaning bags from 2004.  So, today I'm wearing a super comfy Lands End knit dress, size M (black, natch) with a blue open weave scarf for a pop of color, courtesy of my shopping spree in the shed.  Best weekend ever.  Oh yeah, and my kid started school today.  LOL  Grade 5, day 1.

Hooray for shed shopping!  Had a great weekend myself.  Saturday was mostly errands, but had a fire night, my daughter and her boyfriend, a couple of their friends and my niece's fiance (niece had to work overnight shift) came over.  Spent a pleasant time with the young people.  Sunday was a family bbq at my bil's, I brought some kickin chicken bacon bites and corn and blackbean salad, so somewhat good for me. I did eat some things that were not so good for me though.

Yesterday I went to TJ Maxx and bought 2 pair of pants since all I have is capri's.  One has to be hemmed but the other fit perfectly.  Oh and went with my sil to her mom's house to look at a 100 year old table that belonged to her grandmother.  I can't wait to get this thing in my kitchen.  It has a metal top, wooden legs and is so sturdy.  Will need some sanding and painting but perfect for a work surface and best of all it's FREE!

Time since surgery: 4+ months

B:  Premier Protein Shake

L:  Chicken, sauteed peppers and onions

D:  Turkey Breast Tenders, green beans & cauliflower

Trying to keep carbs low, but should have more calories.  Will have to work on this.

I love when clothes miraculously appear!  Way to shed shop ;)  My weekend was busy and fun.  Friday night I had a migraine (which sucked) so I slept.  Saturday morning I taught my first swimming lessons (SO MUCH FUN) and Saturday afternoon we had my husband's extended family over for a Fantasy Football draft.  I tried to eat well but I grazed way too much.  Sunday morning I went out for a 47 mile bike ride and 2 mile run.  Then went and taught swimming lessons again.  I came home and almost fell asleep on the couch.  Yesterday was my son's 11th birthday.  He is my oldest and a huge goofball, but he is also the most thoughtful, kind, considerate 11 year old I know.  I could not be prouder of him.  I didn't bake anything (mainly because he couldn't decide what he wanted) and we ordered Rocky Rococo's pizza for dinner (his choice).

This morning is meh.  It's rainy here in Madison and my coffee full on attacked me when I took a drink (I mean all over the front of my shirt).  Eek!  This week will be super busy but hopefully that means it will go quickly.

Time since surgery: 14 months

B: Coffee with a protein shake

S: Atkins Chocolate Pretzel Bar

L: Leftover pizza (bad Nikki)

S: Iced Coffee with Splenda and cream and Kind Bar

D: Chicken taco

S: Skinny Cow Ice Cream Sandwich

W/V: Started

E: Swim and Ride

Totals: Calories 1370, Protein 73, Carbs 136, Fat 54

Have a great day all!

Migraines are the WORST.  Before surgery I got them 2-4 times a month, since surgery I've only had them a handful of times.  It makes life so much easier!

You can totally be like me!!  It takes time to work up to my distance and frequency but it is totally doable for anyone!  I'm proof of that.  9 months ago I couldn't run 1 mile, now I run 10.  I couldn't bike 10 miles and now I do 50.  YOU CAN DO IT!!

You truly do inspire me... I think I am going to ask for a bike for Christmas! Any suggestions.  "Santa" is already bringing me roller skates so hubby and son can spring for a bike for me. Any suggestions for a beginner bike... will be used on the road mainly?

A bike would be an amazing gift!  I highly recommend finding a local bike shop that is willing to talk to you about your needs and wants for a bike.  If you walk in and they are dismissive walk right back out and find another.  You can find great bikes at all price levels (do not go out of your comfort zone on price) and make sure to get one that fits you well.  A good bike shop will measure your arms and legs and find a bike with the right geometry for YOU!  They will not just "size you up" and put you on whatever they want to sell.  Also, bike seats or saddles make a world of difference.  Make sure to find one that suits you.  Not all bottoms are created equal and it is important to be comfortable :)  Brand is not as important as fit.  I would go with a hybrid or entry level road bike.  Again, find what is comfortable for you!
