I had my surgery back 03/12 and was doing fine and went from 266 lbs to 159 lbs and after almost 2 years I cracked the bone in my fott and has to have a bone graft, metal plate and 6 screws and have a little nerve damage on the top side of my foot. It took a year to heal where I could actually do something on it. I didn't get to exercise and then started working from home. Since I was by myself while everyone was working and trying to heal and get around on my own I started back on sodas...ugh. Anyways I don't over eat and I can only drink around 20 ounces of drink a day no matter what I drink. Well it has been 1 1/2 years since my foot surgery and I knew I had gained some weight back but was afraid to get on teh scale. I finally did today and I have gained 47 lbs back...OMG I am now back up to 205 lbs! I need help on how to get the weight back off and to start over again. I am stopping the sodas TODAY! I know my surgery still works because if I even try to eat too much I still get sick so that is good and I don't think I have stressed my stomach back out. I am pretty sure the weight gain is all sodas.

The soda would be enough to cause your weight gain.  One tip is to stop being afraid of the scale.  Put it out and get on it every morning.

I am glad you quit the soda.  Now sit down and come up with a food plan.  You need about 1600 calories a day to maintain 159 and you need to cut 500 calories to lose a pound a week.  So plan on taking in 1100 calories a day and losing a pound a week.  It is going to take 47 weeks at that rate, so close to a year to get it all off again.

Start drinking water and work on drinking more every day.  It will flush out the fats, give your skin a glow, and make weight loss easier.

Be smart and brave enough to get on that scale every morning.  Take advantage of technology and use My Fitness Pal to easily log and analyze your food.  This is a journey.  Learn from your experience, get back to goal and now have the tools and wisdom to stay at goal for the long term.

I feel for you! I am in the same boat. I am trying to get back to basics. I have been re reading my materials. I also started the Atkins induction because my carbs were too high. I wish you all the best!

I'm right there with you...  I'm six years out and gained close to 40 lbs. Due to low VITD and anemia I've gone back to my surgeon's office.  First thing they told me was stop the soda!  I'm back to basics as well.  Getting rid of carbs is going to be hardest for me as well.

I feel for you! I'm 13 years post-op and up 48 lbs. On the day of surgery (5/15/02),  I weighed 326 and I lost 150 lbs in 2 years. I then gained 22 lbs, but I was able to maintain that weight (or close to it) for 6 years.

Since 2010 I've had a number of deficiency related health issues. In addition to severe anemia, B12 and D deficiencies and the irreparable damage they've caused, I've gained 48 lbs. When my levels are low, I deal with uncontrollable hunger, debilitating fatigue and diminished cognitive function. I get iron infusions every 18 months, I take 10,000 iu vitamin D 2-3 times/week  and I'm trying to get B12 injections again.

I really want to get this weight off. I've been reading about glucomannan and how it helps with satiety, alleviates dumping syndrome, relieves constipation, and reduces the possibility of postprandial hypoglycemia. I'm going to try taking 1 capsule 30 minutes before meals with a full glass of water.

I'll let you know if it helps.

According to the bariatric surgeons that I work for, RNYers should NOT use glaucomanan because of the risk of bowel obstruction and because it interferes with absorption of medications and vitamin supplements.  It also may actually make constipation worse not better, which is the last thing most RNYers need.

It is just another fiber-based weight loss gimmick (there have been SO many over the years, and none of them work), but one that could actually be dangerous to those with a gastric bypass!

There's no magic potion or button, sure wish there was.  Getting back to basics is the best thing to do.  Are you drinking soda with sugar?  There's a lot of different opinions on diet soda.  I didn't drink diet soda for the first two years, as it hurt my pouch.  I now from time to time will have one or two.  Other than tha****er, and crystal light/generic drinks are the best.  Good luck and hope you are back on track soon.

PS I agree with the person who said keep your scale out and weigh yourself every day...that has kept me on track for the past 11 yrs.  Good luck!!

Thanks everyone for the support...I just need to stick to my plan and go back to the basics like everyone says. I have a nutritionist appt on 9/28 that my surgeon recommends so hopefully they will get me back on track.
