Acid...again.

I am 6 weeks out from Band to Bypass revision tomorrow, and generally doing great. Until yesterday I had only eaten out twice. One time went well, but the second time, I threw up after a bite of shredded lobster and had lots of acid reflux that night. It was miserable and forced me back on liquids for a week, but I was only 3 weeks out so I attributed it it to trying a solid food too soon (even though it was on my approved list). All was healed and I was doing great, until...
Last night was my third attempt to go out to dinner with friends. I ordered salmon and broccoli and it was nice and moist and tender. I only had a few bites, chewed well, and felt great but very very full. After I went to bed, I suddenly got a really sick feeling. I ran to the bathroom and vomited acid 4 times.
I used to have this problem constantly with the Band. When it removed they also repaired a hiatal hernia. I really hoped that with the the Band gone, the hernia repaired, RNY (which reduces GERD) and still taking Omaprozole twice a day, I would never have to experience this again. Ugh. Why??
This morning my throat still burns and I just feel so yucky. Any idea what I can do to avoid this?

Are you only having this when you eat out? If you are- to me it would mean more of a generalized 'you don't always know what they are putting in things when you eat out' or maybe overeating without realizing it? otherwise it would be happening all the time, not just eating out. You are still early out, give it time...you are still healing. I found things get better after 3 months, and then again after 6 months. I couldn't eat tuna without wretching for 6 months. Why? I don't know. Now I can eat it fine. I see on the boards all the time people eating deli meat/turkey roll ups... I don't feel well if I eat that stuff to this day. Salad was allowed at 6 weeks for me, but didn't agree with me until after 3 months. My point being, just because it is 'allowed' doesn't mean your pouch is ready for it. Doesn't mean forever.

I was prepared mentally to have my pouch reject food, but I really thought that I was done with acid. Is it normal? Does it happen to everyone this early out?

Yes, when it doubt I am happy to blame the Band for all of life's problems :)
I really considered the soup but it was 85 degrees and we were sitting on the patio, so I decided not to. Oops--lesson learned.

Have you successfully eaten Salmon and Broccoli post-op before your meal out? Perhaps one of them you're not quite able to tolerate?
We're supposed to introduce new foods 1 at a time so we can identify any potential issues with being able to tolerate them. And if we can't, wait a few months and try again! As others have said, it's probably just a 'wait and try again later' situation. :)

Yep, I had had them both, but obviously cooked at home, so maybe the textures were different. Or maybe my pouch was just cranky :/
I just really don't want to have this intense reflux. As a fellow Bandster I am sure you know the misery of which I speak. Right? Yuck.

I wonder if there was sneaky butter in the salmon? Or oil - fat that your body is rejecting? Any sweating or feeling miserable - could it be dumping? I can understand the acid after vomiting, so hopefully, you stay away from vomiting and won't have the acid problems. I'd go back to protein powders and letting your pouch and esophagus rest if you can. Definitely call your doctor. I'm sorry this is happening.

Thanks Lisa. It definitely was not dumping. In fact my body did not reject the meal at all! I felt very full, but not uncomfortable after eating.
It was about 2 hours after I went to bed that the nausea started, and burning in my throat, which immediately turned into vomiting. And ZERO food came up. It was all clear acid.
Grrr.
