Abdominal pain

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated..

I am 17 days post op and from time to time I have had abdominal pain on my right side.  Its located between where my drain was and one of my incisions just below my rib cage.  Sometimes the pain is so intense it feels like a burning sensation and sometimes even my shirt touching my stomach causing alot of discomfort.  If I apply pressure with a pillow it does take the edge off. I have used both ice and heat with some success.  I do have an appt in a few days but wanted to know the thoughts of others, is this normal? Help!

I had surgery  the 24th and for GH he most part feel really good but am having the intense burning pain in that same location. It is sometimes so severe for me still that it takes my breathe away, making it horribly hard to breathe.

I agree aside from this I feel great!! My doctor perfers I take nothing stronger than 1 extra strength tylenol however I dont know how long I will be able to tolerate the pain.  Did you doctor provide an explanation?

My surgeon called me today and explained that he had placed an inner stitch that is going through the fatty tissue, the muscle, and the latter between the muscle and skin, and that until the stitch dissolves completely I could feel that pain, but hopefully it will subside. He gave me liquid vicodin for the pain, and told me to be a ninja lol

I had the same pain.  My nurse practitioner explained the same thing about the stitch and said that sometimes when the stitch loses hold people feel the "ping," and the pain is gone.  I had asked the question on this forum before my appointment and one person described the ping.  I never felt it, but it did go away.  I think it lasted about 4-5 weeks.  It just keeps getting better and better!!  I just hit my 50 pound mark today and am very excited...I'm three months out!

Make sure you talk to your doctor ASAP. It could be a number of things, including your gallbladder.

Tell your doctor.  I had my surgery in January (I'm in Canada) and I'm still under orders from my doctors - any pain that lasts more than a day, I'm to call the bariatric clinic immediately.  It could be nothing.  It could also be anything from a hernia to problems with your gallbladder.  When you're that close to your surgery date most especially, err on the side of caution.
