Hi Kathyjs,

I'm not an expert, as I'm just over a month out after surgery, and I am certainly NOT a doctor or nurse, but I would proffer that yes-  It is possible to have heartburn after surgery, even well after surgery.  The body is constantly changing as time goes on, and your digestive system may be doing so, even after the hiatal hernia surgery.

Have you introduced any new foods recently or removed some you've been eating for years?

Is there new stress in your life?

Have you tried over the counter heartburn medication?

Can you see your GP or your old surgeon to ask?

Healthy wishes,

-LB

My heartburn did not go away after surgery.  My surgeon told me I'm one of the unlucky few that has persistent heartburn and to just take a PPI everyday.
