One Year Surgiversary
Wow. I can't believe tomorrow will be one year since my surgery. It seems like just yesterday and also seems like another lifetime ago.
From how I felt those first few days, I didn't think I'd be where I am now. The aftermath of the surgery was much worse than I expected. I had a lot of pain and a lot of trouble in the hospital, but once they discharged me and I was home I began to feel better right away. I took baby steps, helped so much by the caring people on this forum, and worked through issues that would have made me crazy without your help. But I made it and I'm down 82 pounds from my surgery date, and 85 pounds from my all-time high.
I'd like to lose another 20 pounds and it's coming off slowly. But, even if I don't lose another ounce, I'm thrilled to be where I am. I couldn't have predicted how much better I feel now than I did a year ago. I wish I done it sooner, but I guess we do it when we're ready and not before.
Here are my before and after pics. The before is the day before surgery. The after is from 2 weeks ago.
Thank you all for your help and support as I start my second year on the losers' bench. I couldn't have done it without you.
Hugs...
Joan
