What's on Your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
Good Morning! I am happy to report that we have finally FINALLY finished bottling and labeling all the honey. That was such a process. Because of the wet weather, the honey itself was wetter than usual so we had to spend time letting it dry out in the honey house (actually the play room off the kitchen that we've converted) so it was at an acceptable moisture content to sell. You can't sell honey that's over 18.6% in NYS and we had buckets that were over 20%. *le sigh* So, with patience and more patience, we were able to get it down to 18%. Them suckers is ready for sale!
This has been Kristen's beekeeping lesson for today. Tune in tomorrow and I'll teach you how to use a refractometer. LMAO
So, I went grocery shopping last night and stocked up on all my regular WLS friendly stuff and now I feel overwhelmed. It's the same kind of overwhelmed I would feel after grocery shopping at 300 lbs...like I have to eat all the things I bought right now. Granted, my cart wasn't full of cookies and other crap, but that old familiar feeling is still there. I packed like 2 days worth of food in my lunch bag. WTF? I've already put the excess to the side, but I was in a fugue-like state when I packed up this morning. My head is definitely a work in progress and I'm not sure that I'll ever be completely "normal". Whatever that means. Discuss. LOL

I think is any of us ever get to "normal" after going through what we have...maybe that isnt a good thing? I mean we HAVE to remain vigilant...right? And remember our past struggles so we don't repeat them?? Maybe I am wrong...wouldnt be the first time! lol
I LOVE your honey lessons!! Keep em coming :)

I did the "auto pilot" thing for lunch yesterday. I was talking to a coworker as I was putting food on my plate and by the time I got back to my desk it was full. Luckily I have a trash can right by me so most of it went in the trash. That is one thing I have learned to be okay with, throwing food away instead of feeling like I HAVE to eat it.
B-atkins egg/bacon scramble
S-fiber wafer (just would like to say these have been so awesome for me--my surgeon said I needed to add them so I did. And because they "crunch" I find I snack a lot less through out the day. No more chasing after that crunch effect I guess)
L-Thai sweet and sour chicken--not at all like chinese sweet and sour chicken, its not breaded and the sauce is light with lots of big chunks of veggies and pineapple
S-grapefruit
D-tuna salad
What are fiber wafers? I need fiber ... I need crunch... LOL

So excited to be here early. Yes! For honey. It is a beautiful thing. Where do you sell it?
OK-here's my crazy head confession from years of WW. When I go to the surgeon I don't eat or drink anything for several hours before I go, and always wear the same outfit to get weighed in. So I have the lowest and I know consistently the same weight. I wear Old Navy leggings and a tank top. I throw either a T-shirt it or a sweater over it depending on the time of year(which I will take off to weigh in). Old habits die hard.
B: inspire Pumpkin Spice Latte (for you AV)
S: 3 pieces cheddar cheese cuts
L: Salad with feta and cranberries, turkey
D:steak, broccoli, baked potato(small piece)
S:yogurt

Mmmm...pumpkin spice latte.
We are still trying to get up and running on the sales thing, so mostly I sell it here at work. I have a little cult following. LOL My husband is in the process building a little honey shack for up by the road so we can sell it farm stand style. And the next time we make the trip to get the bottling supplies we are going to pick up some plastic ones so we can start shipping. It's too much to ship the glass and it could be a disaster if the bottles broke.
OK I made the Pumpkin Spice latte (which I've made many times before) but instead of using milk, I used Unsweetened Almond Milk and about 1/4 cup Ricotta and just a few ice cubes. OMG! The Ricotta made it so smooth and creamy......

Oh, I meant to mention that when I go to see my surgeon I always try to get the first appointment of the day and I don't eat or drink anything before I go. And I make sure I'm wearing lightweight clothes and shoes I can kick off, too. That's a little throwback to my WW days as well. LOL
