What's on Your Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
I just love it when you post pictures of your dogs. They are so handsome and so healthy looking. My border collie, Zoey, is a beautiful blue merle with great markings but absolutely HATES to have her picture taken. If she sees the camera or a phone pointed at her, she runs and hides like you are trying to steal her soul! I don't get it! But, she is my little drama queen and I love her! She is really my son's dog but she is MINE! He got her when he was in the Navy in Hawaii and when he came home to NC, he moved in back home briefly, but Zoey stayed! I am telling you... dogs are better than kids... because they don't grow up and leave... LOL.
I'm sorry you had that experience in the grocery store, but major kudos and admiration for the way you handled it! *hugs* I don't think I would have had the strength.

Good for you for putting all that stuff back. Pop Tarts 10 boxes for $4.???... that would be hard to walk by. I love how they say one pop tart is a serving but package it in packages of 2.... never ate one pop tart.

Daisy - great to see you here, and is it sad that misery loves company? I have the SAME thing happen quite often - I mean suddenly it's like "2 boxes of graham crackers for $3?! What a steal!" and I SHOULD NOT BUY THEM but old habits do die hard. I am impressed that you put it all back - I do not always have the strength.
I have taken to using a free iPhone app called AnyList for my shopping. You can create a grocery list and add your items and it organizes it by section, so all the produce is together, baking stuff together, dairy together. It helps me to walk around and just buy what I put on the list in each section. I mostly avoid the interior aisles because ohhhhh I dunno, cool ranch Doritos may sing a siren song as I walk by!
Funny side note - I just met a friend and her new baby for a quick lunch and she baked chocolate chip scones and sent me off with THREE WARM SCONES. I ate one as I walked home, and I thought "this is not something that can come in my house or my belly". So I stopped at a local takeaway soul food restaurant where the proprietor frequently proposes marriage when I go by (he is at least 60, I am 38) and I gave him the scones!!!! LOL. So I know what it's like to look like a crazy person!
My head is definitely not in a "normal" state yet- I'll always have a bizarre relationship with food, but I wasn't expecting any psychology miracles with this surgery- Just solid weight loss.
I am a bit disappointed (okay, really, really bummed) today, as I found out the gym I was going to join will be closing its pool for two months. It's the only place where I live that I feel emotionally comfortable swimming, and I've done a lot of research. (My joints won't really take anything else.) Not sure what to do now. :-(

Two months? That is long time. Is that the only reason you selected that gym? I would talk to the manager and either have them find you another place to swim (at their cost) or halt your membership for two months. It's ridiculous to pay for something you cannot use. My only suggestion would be to try an ellipitical for very short periods and work up if your joints get better as you lose weight.
Good Luck and I'm sorry!
Hi mamata2- Thanks for your reply-
I selected the gym for several reasons-
1. It's right on my subway line and the line is handicapped accessible. (I have a condition where I'm chronically dizzy, so I avoid stairs. This is also a huge reason I'm choosing to swim, as it's safe for dizzy folks and good on the joints.)
2. It has a pool.
3. It's not terribly crowded.
4. It has all the amenities I'd need, such as handicap accessible showers, towels/shampoo, etc. included in membership, and early hours. (They open at 5 am.)
I haven't officially joined yet. I'm seeing my surgeon on the 1st of September to get an okay to start exercising. It's been a month, so I'm assuming I'll get the go ahead.
Your suggestion about accommodating swimmers at different pools is an excellent one- It's a chain gym, and I believe there is another one that has a pool and an accessible subway station nearby. If they can house me there during the two month construction, that would rock. If not, I may try the elliptical. I'd just have to alert someone to be nearby in case I keel over- LOL
Sorry for blathering on! I'll be sure to update here once I do join and see how things turn out.
Hope your Wednesday is off to a rocking start!
Rock and roll,

Good morning,
Another dreary morning here, hopefully the sun will come out this afternoon as it did yesterday.
I think we all have our little food/weight quirks. I was really bummed this morning as I was up 1/2 a lb, I know why, I ate yesterday, I ate well yesterday after two weeks of feeling crappy with a summer cold, I am finally feeling better and had an actual appetite. I may log in the plan every morning, but many times I cannot finish that amount of food. I don't usually edit unless I eat more than planned.
