Why can't I ever be happy with my progress??
I understand what you mean...at 8months out I am down 115lbs but its in sizes I have gone from a 4x to a 2x but I have realized that it all depends on where you shop...some stores run smaller. ex: Lane Bryant I am still Struggling to fit in a 26 pants but everywhere else I seem to be buying 22-24.. Don't judge your progress only by size numbers because they are not an accurate measurement!!! Remember we never see our own accomplishments as quickly as others do!!! your doing great...Just keep up the good work!!!!
First, congrats on 87 freakin pounds! I agree it should be more than one size, who knows next week you could be 2 sizes down, it's an interesting journey.
My friend asked me how it was going and how much I lost and I said I was down 36 lbs, she said wow are your clothes falling off of you to which I replied, "Not really, my clothes just fit me better!" She said OH I know that stage, it's the "Oh good my, fat clothes actually fit again!" stage. I have been wearing yoga pants basically since I had my son 3 years ago. Pre-surgery the pants would slide down my body because my stomach was too big, now they slide down my body because my hips are too small. (I'm an apple shape)
Keep at it! We'll all get there (you know if we keep making good choices)

Goodwill and Facebook garale sale pages have become my best friends. I just bought an entire stuffed trash bag full of clothes for $10 from someone on Facebook and got a bunch of pajama pants that actually fit plus a jacket that still had the tags on it! Now the problem is I'll never want to actually spend money on new clothes again.
Also, we all lose in different places at different times. I've lost 3 top sizes but 6 pant sizes. My bra band size is down 10", but my cup size actually went up. Bodies don't make sense.
I'm in a similar position and I've only lost 30 lbs "this time" around. It is frustrating when my skinny friend (she hates that I call her that lol) loses TEN pounds and goes down 3 sizes - whatever!!!
I went to an outlet store the other day to hopefully grab a couple of nicer shirts to wear into the office. Before my revision in June, I was in a 3x blouse. I tried on 2x sizes the other day and was unhappy. I went back to 3x size and was comfortable. My mom pointed out that I may be just used to the loose feeling and not feeling comfortable with the shirts feeling "fitted". It may be true but I still bought the 3x :( A friend suggest that I find a shirt I REALLY like (that is cheap) and buy it in a 2x, take my picture in it - and as I keep losing weight to take my picture in it - one a month...and compare. It may still "fit" but I might start seeing the difference in how it fits. Next paycheck I might try it.
I did just do something similar with 2 tshirts I really wanted. It might sound silly but I'm a big reader and am very active in the blogger/reviewing world. I haven't really ever been able to buy women's cute tshirts that are relevant to books that I've really wanted. I just did this week in an XL, in a cute women's cut. They haven't gotten here but I fully expect them not to fit and am okay with that. I have always had a large chest, even after my reconstruction from breast cancer. So that is part of it but obviously not ALL of it! But I'm going to use them as an incentive and a look at how far I'm coming and how close I am to fitting into them type of thing.
Hey mute (can I call you mute?),
In my estimation this is where sizing charts become uber-helpful. You only shrunk one clothing size according to that brand of clothing. Clothing sizes aren't universal. (Proof: I weigh about 207 and I wear a friggin size 8 in Wal-Mart vs. 14 everywhere else.)
So my best recommendation to you is to take good measurements (if you aren't already). That helps to match up your true clothing size to various brands (all online clothing stories have sizing charts) and it also allows you to see your progress with new eyes.
Be encouraged!
