I went to urgent care yesterday for a lot of discomfort and found out I have a raging kidney infection. It hurts like hell to pee. On top of that, I'm having a "break through" period (which I'm not supposed to have with my birth control, but oh well). I'm also super constipated. In other words, I AM LITERALLY BLEEDING OUT OF ALL 3 HOLES!!!     It hurts to sit, but the antibiotics are making me dizzy and nauseous, so there's not really another option.

An interesting find at urgent care was that I was also dehydrated. Unexpected since I drink about 80 oz. a day, but I had been cutting it back since Saturday just because it hurts to pee. It's amazing how fast that can catch up with you!

Ugh. That does sound miserable, and the kidney infection sounds scary. Sorry you are going through all that. 

Some birth control pills can be hard on the kidneys so it might be worth a follow-up visit with your gyn or PCP.

Thanks for the info; I switched from regular birth control pills to NuvaRing shortly before surgery, but I hadn't heard about it being hard on the kidneys. I might see about switching to an IUD...I'd wanted to keep hormonal BC for the positive effects on my acne, but these weird super-long but super-light periods are messing with my hormones and making me break out anyway. Maybe I'll just head to the humane society to get spayed!

I am on the ring too! First month. I will keep an eye out for my kidneys. Starting to think they dont have a chance combined with my bc and metformin.

I have had a kidney infection caused by a kidney stone and the pain was 100 on a scale of 1-10! I can certainly relate to the constipation issue after dealing with it for the past week! I thought I'd need a blood transfusion! I feel your pain and sometimes we just need a good whine!!!!
